[OOC: i've never really role played before so i hope i'm doing it right by describing whats happening in third person... ]

It was a dreary morning in the shadowed lands of Pride Rock, the skies looked gray as though there were to be rain in an oncoming storm, however this was not to be there was scarcely any water or food to be found.

Within the lion's den atop pride rock a young cub could be heard crying throughout every edge of the cave. The mother of this young cub was none other than Sarabi once queen of this land...

The little one paced the cave back and forth restless. He knew he should be quiet although he did not know why,he spent most of his life in the cave and never knew what he would do should he finally get permission to leave... occasionally he would hear laughter echo throughout the cave, it kept him awake at night not knowing who or what made the noise that taunted him. He wanted a way out... out of this dreary existance...
Mother,i'm so hungry... can't i go out and find food for us? The young cub looked at his mother hoping for once he could leave the cold unwelcoming walls that seemed prison like to him...

Sarabi glanced out at the grey skies that had descended upon the Pride Lands on that particular day and sighed gloomly. Every morning when she awakened, she hoped for two things: firstly, of course, she wished for a way out of the predicament that her pride had been thrust into with Scar's crowning as King and that, if there was any sliver of a chance whatsoever, that her firstborn Simba was still alive and would return one day. Her second hope of each day concerned the weather; perhaps coincidentally, since Scar had come to power, each and every day had been this dreary, and she hoped internally for blue skies, sunshine and even perhaps a bit of rain. It seemed like wishful thinking to hope for both of these things to happen as time wore on, but still Sarabi prayed every night and every morning for this and just this. It was one of the few things in life which kept her sane.

Her now-only son paced impatiently about her paws, asking restlessly for a reason to leave their den and to venture out into the outside world. Sarabi looked down at the cub, which she had named Ushujaa, sternly. "Hush, now. You know my answer and you know my reasons. You can't be found right now; it's not safe."

She nuzzled him affectionately. "One day, Ushujaa, I promise. One day, you'll no longer need to be hidden. You'll be able to roam these lands to your heart's content. But for now, please, listen to me. I will get you food later. I promise."

Kemmy laid underneath a tree, in a small thicket where she had snuck off to. She had all four paws planted on the ground, ready to spring to action should it be needed. She was in an awful, tired, exhausted state. Ever since Scar had come to power, she had not slept mote than absolutely necessary to keep herself alive. She had many scars on her body, and they were from being mauled by an outlander as a cub. And now there was an outlander in charge of them. She was worried to the point of indigestion and diahrreah, her ears always pricked up. When Scar spoke... She nearly passed out.

Nala was in the den, lazing around listlessly. Normally she would be out hunting for food, but there was none. Otherwise she may be getting a refreshing drink of water... But there was none of that, either. She had nothing to do at all, so she just laid there. She was so hungry and thirsty. Her lips were dried and cracked. Her ribs could be seen beneath her skin and fur. It was a horrible thing that had beset upon the Pride...

Zazu looked at all the lions and lioness sadly laying down with little food and little water. He flew outside to see what Scar has done! Everything....... dead! He couldn't even look! He knew his only hope was to try to stay alive but it was very little hope since they had little water and food! He decided to check on everyone to make sure they were okay! As he swooped down to see if everyone was okay he noticed there all the lions were doing nothing fun!

He sighed and swooped down to Sarabi, "Hello Sarabi! The Pridelands look horrible! I bet you are very sad to see it like this" Zazu said. He looked around again trying to hold back the tears! He looked back at Sarabi and tried to look happy but it didn't work....... he broke out in tears! "I can't satnd to see the Pride lands like this!" He weeped, "I wish we had our old king back! I just can't believe it! We need Simba! And Mufasa!" He covered his mouth right after saying "Mufasa" and looked around making sure none of the hyenas or Scar heard him but someone did!

[Ushujaa]

"Well, well, well... if it isn't the little stooge A ferocious male hyena said as he stepped out of the shadows... The hyena were Scar's eyes and ears, as they roamed the decrepit land and reported to him of anyone who should try to escape or find help. This particular Canine was known as Banzai he was one of the smarter hyena, well at least for as smart as hyena get. Still he wondered why the horn-bill would return he had escaped once much to Scar's dismay...

So why would a free bird like you come back to this dump? Banzai laughed as he started licking his lips Not like i actually care, i'm kinda glad you're back... you're just in time for dinner... He laughed to himself, then took a glance up to see Sarabi On second thought i'll just head out for now... heheh See you later, Stooge...

A beautiful smart hyena came out just in time to see Banzia leave! Her name was Shenzi! She was very smart and knew how to solve problems and unlike the rest of the hyenas she had a tuff of hair on top of her head! She was one of the leaders of the hyenas! "Banzia what are you doing?" She wispered "Go get that bird!" She glanced over seeing Sarabi. "I got an idea! I'll distract Sarabi as you get the bird!" She smiled an evil smiling thinking of her plan

Zazu watched the hyena walk away! He smiled as if he won a battle! A smile grew on his face but he still had a shiver run down his spine! "Yes! Today is the day that I didn't get hurt from one of those hyenas!" Zazu pranced around happily as that smile grew and grew! Then he noticed Shenzi! A chill went down his back and it got worst and worst as the deeper it went. "Oh no!" He said to himself as he saw Banzia and Shenzi talking as Shenzi looked right at Zazu with an evil smile!

[Ushujaa]

Banzai glared over to Shenzi for a moment, he was considering his options, he could leave the bird and go to Scar without... then he thought of how things were before they helped Scar, Then he spoke in a light whisper Sounds good to me... if we tell Scar that the bird is back, and we don't bring it to him we're going to be dangling at the bottom of the food chain again... He halfheartedly laughed to himself, Yeah, definitely don't want that... He said shaking his head, He nodded to Shenzi to let her know he was ready, and he started towards the horn-bill...

Sarabi noticed Zazu flying in from afar and forced a weak smile. The hornbill had often taken to speaking to her lately, despite the fact that she was no longer queen of the Pride Lands. Glancing once over at Ushujaa, making sure he was still close, Sarabi turned to face the majordomo. "Good morning, Zazu. Yes, dreary times, aren't they? Our wonderful King will never change his ways, though, so there's no point in longing for the past anymore."

The mention of her deceased husband and son tore at Sarabi's heartstrings for a brief moment, but she had nary a chance to dwell upon the emotions that had been brought about by hearing Mufasa and Simba's names, for as soon as Zazu mentioned her mate's name, the shadows revealed a lone hyena, whom Sarabi knew to be Banzai. Sending a quick, piercing look at Ushujaa and beckoning him with a slight motion of her head to hide behind her, Sarabi straightened up elegantly, hoping to draw any attention away from the small lion cub behind her and to perhaps intimidate the hyena out of the den so that their privacy would be upheld.

She shot a stern look at Banzai as the hyena attempted to intimidate Zazu, and once he laid eyes on her, apparently it was enough for him to retreat, knowing he was likely outnumbered. The regal lioness breathed a sigh of relief as she watched Banzai stalk away, thinking then of Ushujaa behind her, hoping he had stayed hidden from view. "Ushujaa, dear, I want you to run along back to our sleeping spot. Just for now. I promise I'll come and get you when it's safe." She returned her gaze to the mouth of the den, and thanked the Kings internally for having dismissed her son. Shenzi had appeared next to Banzai, and they were making it quite clear that they desired Zazu.

Unaware of if she still had any power over the hyenas and if intimidation would be enough to deter even Shenzi, Sarabi still padded forward slightly, so that she stood flanking the cave's entrance, in front of Zazu and facing the two hyenas. "Is there a problem?" she asked in a solemn voice. "Zazu came here merely to speak with me. If I still have any say in the workings of the Pride Lands, I ask that you spare him. He is a friend of mine and is doing nothing wrong." She blinked, hoping that her civil dealings with the two hyenas would be enough for them to divert their attentions elsewhere, notably away from the cave.

"Yes Yes please spare me!" Zazu said tring to act calm! "I really just came by to talk to Sarabi!" He smiled a goofy smile looking up at those nasty hyenas. Shenzi smiled at him! Zazu knew some thing was going to happen!

"You see Sarabi" started Shenzi "If we dont bring this little horn-bill back to our boss! We'll be cooked! So just move along and we promise we wont kill him! Just bring to the boss!" She smiled and started to pick Zazu up!

Sarabi was, for the moment, not fazed by Shenzi's comments, even though she knew full well that the two hyenas could in the long run do whatever they wanted as long as it was in the name of Scar. The lioness would not be able to stop them taking Zazu on her word and authority alone, and while she wanted to trust that no harm would come to the hornbill once he was taken to the King, she was not in the mood to take chances, so she decided to continue to oppose the hyenas, no matter the consequences that might befall her.

Turning so that she now directly faced the two hyenas, Sarabi maintained a calm stature and tone of voice as she spoke again. "If His Majesty wants Zazu to meet with him as much as you seem to claim that he does, can he not come and get him himself? Or at least send a sort of summon as once was custom in these lands? I'm sure Zazu can find Scar's den without your assistance, can't you, my friend?"

She glanced furtively at Zazu, trying desperately to motion for him to simply fly away. He was a bird, was he not? The cave's ceiling was not exactly low to the ground. Sarabi wondered why Zazu was not utlilizing his god-given ability to fly away instead of staying rooted to the ground, but she hoped that he would catch on soon, for she was unsure how much longer she would be able to hold off Shenzi and Banzai.
