season 2: what we know yet

that ia great news! so we have 4 episodes and a movie about Scar all airing in july? thats more tlg in 1 month than ever before..
Well, it's not exactly a movie. Not even a proper TV Movie. It'll just be a glorified two-parter, but in the form of a longer episode, like "Return of the Roar". Always disliked people calling RotR a movie too, because it's anything but, and at first it created a lot of confusion amongst people who thought it was gonna be a sequel to TLK2 or the original Lion King (surprisingly a lot of people don't seem to even know about Simba's Pride).
It also doesn't help with how bland and incomplete the whole thing was relative to later 22-minute episodes. (Yes, I know it was just supposed to set up the rest of the regular TV series, but it was still pretty poorly written. I can't imagine that anyone who didn't know about the full series and only watched Return of the Roar would've been too compelled to follow along with the TV show, unless they managed to see a commercial for "Rise of Makuu" or "Never Judge a Hyena by its Spots" (that title is way too long).) Return of the Roar is one of the few Lion Guard episodes that has next to no rewatch value for me.

With Scar being the focus of an extended episode, I'm hoping that some real ramifications come of this, but I also hope that he's never brought up again.

I agree with this to a point. I loved Return Of The Roar, but if I did not know that it was the set-up for a series I would have been severely disappointed at how it ended with no wrap up and left so many things unexplained. I do enjoy re-watching Return of the Roar because it was our introduction to Kion, the rest of The Lion Guard, as well as being the first time we have seen our favorite Pride of Lions in 21 years.

If Scar is brought up again I doubt it will be too often, because for example. Ra's al Ghul is a major Batman villain, but the writers use him sparingly so he does not become as the expression is reliably defeatable. In other words in order for Ra's al Ghul to retain his status as a credible major threat he can not be used too often. I think the same could be said of Scar, but seeing as he is a ghost anyway. The term Credible Threat may not apply to him.

I think having Scar appear only once throughout the entire series would be a waste, especially if the show ends up running 4+ seasons. But as I've said multiple times, I certainly don't want them to overuse him. If he does indeed appear in like the fifth episode of this second season, then the earliest he should re-appear again is definitely not until the end of Season 3, and even that'd be pushing it.

I don't think they're going to overuse him, though. I feel they know it needs to be something special. Throughout Season 1, I've complained about this show being pretty bad in overusing certain things way too much, such as Mufasa, the catchphrases and the songs. Albeit they did get a LOT better at not overusing Mufasa towards the end of the season. Early in the season he kept appearing like every episode when I felt like he should've been saved to feel more special, but then after episode 4 he has only appeared twice (those appearances still didn't feel very special to me, though). But on the other hand, this show has also done a great job at keeping certain characters/things special, for example Jasiri and ESPECIALLY the villains. When both Jasiri and Reirei appeared for the second time, both times felt special and I marked out cause we hadn't seen either of them in a while. Zira is still yet to appear a second time, and Scar's not been shown at all for a whole season. This is why it's good that we have Janja as a main villain, because they can still have him appear as a villain quite often, if the episode requires it, without it feeling like too much. So yeah, I wouldn't be worried about Scar appearing too often in the series. They've certainly proven they know how to not overuse characters. I just wish they'd apply that logic to a few more things in the show. But from what I've heard, I think most of the blame on that goes to the network, not the writers.

I too am hoping they use Scar sparingly. Maybe twice a season at most, unless perhaps they want to go the nightmares route and have that be a plot thread throughout. I'd be fine with Scar in a good handful of episodes IF he's just a spectral sort of thing seen only in Kion's dreams.

I actually really enjoyed the Outlands episode. I hope they bring in Scar in S2. I was surprised they didn't in S1. Found that the whole 1 song per episode thing got old fast.
I am also a big fan of: Phantom of the Opera, High School Musical, Harry Potter, Disney in general, Days of Our Lives, musicals in general, Dr. Seuss in general and the Grinch.

I agree with that to a point, while some of the songs were great (In no particular order), We Are The Same, Lion's Over All, Anytime Fuli sings :fuliohyeah: A great many of them are good, and other feel forced. I understand the logic behind it, but I wish they did not stick to that rule like gospel. Although I do have to admit they do stick to the Disney philosophy of using the song to advance the story.

They are definitely bringing in Scar for season 2 and however Scar rises I can't see Zira not being involved somehow.

In light of the big announcement of David Oyelowo being the new one-time voice of the titular villain in "The Rise of Scar", I happened upon this article that has a lot of casting announcements and new characters for the upcoming season: http://www.broadwayworld.com/bwwtv/arti ... D-20170621

I know everyone's excited about Scar, but I spotted a nice little nugget of significant world-building potential. I'll let you all see if you can guess what it is...
