season 2: what we know yet

season 2: what we know yet

Postby zerodix » May 22nd, 2017, 7:52 am

Season 2 is about to air this summer and this is what we know by now:

-Babysitter Bunga is a new TLG book, based on an upcoming episode. It is likely to be an episode of season 2. In some scans of these book pages we see the jackals return and a baby/young serval.
-We have an ex Spicegirl, Emma Bunton voicing a Zebra, that is golden-brownish striped in a concept art
-AJ from Backstreet Boys will be voicing a golden mole (much gold there, lol)
-Scar will be in one or more episode
-there is also a celebrity voicing a large type of lizzard, which concept art is on the internets as well.
-season 1 had 26 episodes. (i am not totally sure about this last fact, correct me if I'm wrong!)

What we don't know yet:
-when will season 2 kick off with a new episode?
-will Kovu and/or the Outlanders make a comeback?

If they do, the creators would have to be quite creative, the way they outright butchered the potential of the characters...

To edit/add to the original post:

  • We have a little info on the amelanistic zebra matriarch, Dhahabu ("gold" in Swahili -
https://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/li ... 0830200256), who is being played by Reneé Elise Goldsberry, who has portrayed Nala in the Broadway show and is currently in the cast of Hamilton. (Emma Bunton played Muhimu, the zebra matriarch in the British-airing version of "The Mbali Fields Migration".) Apparently she'll be a mild antagonist who "wants something highly unusual in return" when the guard asks to share her waterhole during a drought. (You'd think there'd be laws regarding water usage during drought season to prevent such shenanigans.)
  • To add the Backstreet Boy-voiced golden mole episode, we know the character's name is Kuchimba ("drilling"/"to dig") and he'll be singing an R&B-ish song. We'll see how that goes; if it's actually Fuli who he's singing to, a possible duet between them might actually be really good.
  • There's actually a whole article (http://nerdist.com/game-of-thrones-kris ... ion-guard/) complete with concept art and some voice acting footage for another Season 2 antagonist, a croc-sized rock monitor lizard named Kenge ("swindler") voiced by Game of Thrones actor Kristofer Hivju. Based on his description as a dominant male and the dialogue Hivju previewed in the link, Kenge basically seems like Makuu with a Napoleon complex.

I have no evidence for this, but I'm fairly certain the Outsiders (at least Kovu and his siblings) will feature in at least two more episodes. Given what happened last time, I'm inclined to hope that Zira doesn't make too many future appearances (though I'm sure she will) and any she does make are as brief and/or adequately inconsequential as possible (I get the feeling they won't be). Getting her too involved in whatever overall arc Disney has for Kion just adds a lot of weight and potential complications that I really don't think the writers are capable of handling well given the target audience. It would be plenty cool if we actually got just more Nuka and Vitani stuff; they're very underused characters and could make for good main guard antagonists by themselves without breaking any canon since there's very little canon regarding them to actually break. If anything, having them show up in the Pride Lands as Zira's spies or something from time to time would actually make perfect sense, since they did that in Simba's Pride and clearly knew their way around the territory without getting caught.

I think the "or more" part is just speculation, though having Scar's ghost appear in some capacity would definitely be grounds for a multi-episode stint.

It is stated nowhere that Scar will appear more than once, but it is also stated nowhere that he will appear only once. So that gives us room to speculate, which I prefer not to do, I'm more of a fact person :) So we leave both options open, I would say.
We have the lizard, golden zebra and golden mole as new characters and even though I really searched around wikis and the internets, I found nothing new about the second season. Some fans stated that it would air in june or july, but I can't found this info in real sources, so I would say that is speculation too.

That Season 2 starts this summer is mentioned in a Disney Jr. press release, as quoted here: http://tvseriesfinale.com/tv-show/lion- ... son-three/
