I actually feel like looking for another job right now as I feel I go above and beyond what is expected of me and I get zero thanks or any sort of recognition, yet others who do nothing get praised for silly little things. I feel invisible half the time.
The problem is that when you're consistently working that hard, it becomes expected of you, not an exception. You'll find that you will have that problem almost anywhere you work. But y'know what you get is something better because you're the kind of employee who will be remembered after they leave with an amazing reference to go and purse their dreams with, you're the employee who everyone else will have to work twice as hard when you leave to fill the gap from just one person. And you're the one who will ultimately end up happier in your career, even if it doesn't seem like it right now.
I mean don't you feel a little bit awesome knowing that when they do something simple they get praised up for working even half as well as you do? If you think about it, you're setting a standard and they are getting praised for sometimes keeping up with that standard.
I had an employee like that a short while ago.
So it's nothing personal against you and every thing to do with encouraging other employees to be at that same level.
