- Name Meaning: Deep
Age: Adolescent / 2 Years.
Gender: Female
Species: Panthera Leos (Lion)
Appearance: Kina is four and a half feet tall at the shoulder, weighing close to 270 pounds. She has the slender build of an Outlander, though is a bit fuller than them. Her sleek russet pelt is well groomed, rippling muscle underneath clearly visible when on the move. The lioness’s subpelt is soft beige, while her paws are the same color as the rest of her pelt. The pads of her paws are black, hardened from travel. Around her eyes is a deep umber — Almost onyx — and the tuft of her tail is the same color. Kina’s eyes are crystal blue, and her black nose resembles that of an Outlander. She is missing a small nick from the top of her right ear. A thin strip up the back of that same ear also has beige fur, where it grew back in from after a battle.

Personality: She is almost always on the look out, wary for other rouges and predators. If the need or suspicion should arise, Kina will not hesitate to lash out in attack. Yet, despite that, she is initially a caring lioness. If another proves trustworthy, or even in need, she’ll go out of her way to help them. Be it a cub or adult. Remembering her own cubhood days leads her to be especially susceptible to a cub’s charms, also knowing how vulnerable they are. Accompanying her now almost second-nature alertness is being perspective, missing little — Be it in the surroundings or in another beast. Kina is also very stubborn; refusing to give in if injured, and oftentimes refuses to change her mind. From that same stubbornness, though, is a fierce loyalty to those she cares about.
The prospect of joining a pride is a somewhat enticing thought to her, though she takes satisfaction in surviving well on her own.
History: Daughter to a pair of rouges, she and her brother Ahi were able to nurse for about six weeks until they had to be abandoned out of necessity. Between three different prides, all they could do was wander for a time. As such young cubs, they still succumbed to exhaustion easily under the savannah sun. After several cub-watch ”˜guarded’ naps between the two of them, they eventually stumbled across an empty waterhole. It was there that they spent the next four moonspans, living off of the fish and whatever came their way. They also learned how to swim because of necessity, and climb trees regularly.
By their fifth moonspan, a different rouge female had made her way to the waterhole, and not a moment too soon. Several hyena had found them, and being bigger than the cubs at the time, were easily overpowering the two. Whilst the lioness had no kin-related reason to save them, she did try to drive them off. However, Kina still bore marks of the ambush. A piece of her upper right ear had been torn off, and Ahi had received the seemingly unfair fate of death before the rouge could drive them away.
After a moonspan with the female, Kuukeni, Kina had finally begun to open back up, though the time of the past was still heavy on her mind. Even so, Kuukeni took her in as her own, raising and teaching the still young cub to the best of her abilities. Though their den remained between the three prides, it somehow remained safe from attack other than from the other predators that lived nearby. And, while they had grown close in their time together, they were both rouges now. By the time she reached two years of age, it was time to depart. To “seek herself” as Kuukeni had said.
Skills: Kina is a fairly skilled huntress, and surprisingly swims well. She also is good at maneuvering her way through trees, being rather small for her species. And finally, she has become familiar with certain plants — Ones that do good, and ones that do harm.
