Its not as awful as it sounds! I still get about eight hours sleep. But those hours in the morning where no one is up yet so I can get extra work done or do my marathon training are so valuable at the moment it yeah it's a little bit strange going to sleep when it's dark and waking up to drive to the shops and it's still dark.

I'm feeling relieved and slightly optimistic. Today went better than I expected. Finally managed to sit down and have that discussion I wanted to have with my boss. She took it pretty well, all things considering. I was surprised to find that she had noticed I wasn't my usual self yesterday and this morning. She says she still has to process my decision, but also said that she doesn't want to lose me because I'm all she's ever wanted in an assistant, which is very flattering.

I would be content with continuing to work as her assistant for the time being. I'll be leaving her next August whether she likes it or not, but it would be pretty damn good to have a year's experience working in a salon before I open my own. I just hope she has truly understood what I was saying and doesn't mention me getting trained to her level again. This is my career, something I'll be doing for the next forty years or so. I should be able to take my time with it.
