The battery in my phone doesn't come out, but that's because the whole thing is sealed up. Why, you ask? Because it's supposed to be waterproof. That's how you keep water from getting inside the internal components.
As for the whole discussion of smartphones vs. normal phones... I honestly find dumb phones to be almost worthless. All they can do is call and text, which is about 1 or 2% of what I use my smartphone for. I treat my smartphone as something more like a computer with a microphone and a phone number, and not as a phone with unnecessary features. If you know what you're doing, you can remove what you don't want, anyway.
