The pace of the lionesses started to pick up as the other pride neared closer and closer to the main den. By now, the other group could be seen running parallel to them at the same pace. "Now!" The head lioness roared and the squad bolted toward pride rock at full speed, directly towards the opposing pride.

[Zeke]

Zeke took up the rear of the group, running with Mila. Something moved in the corner of his eye. He saw another to the left. The brush was too thick and it was too dark to make out what the figures were. The other group is supposed to be on the other side, not here, Zeke thought as he ran toward pride rock. It was then when it hit him. No! "Mila!" He yelled as he swung his body around in a 180, just in time to swipe a pouncing lion onto the ground. "Ambush!"

Mila looked behind her. There were too many lions to count that were about ready to pounce Zeke. "Zeke!" she yelled. She began to run over to him and yelled behind her "Keep going! We'll deal with these!" After a second or two of sprinting, she jumped out in front of Zeke, taking the weight of 4 lions pounces. She was thrown back, and got up hastily. The other 4 were getting up as well, and without thinking, Mila pounced on one, growling viciously, and forced her claws into the lions neck. She took her claws out, obviously killing the lion. She had a look of intense anger as she raised a claw ready for the others to strike Zeke and her.

[Zeke]

The lions were slowly backing Zeke away from Mila. Zeke grabbed one lion by the side of the head with his claws and slammed him into the ground, crushing its skull. He lifted his head to see the lions making a circle around him, yet they didn't pounce. Zeke slowly backed up, not turning his back to them.

Mila could see Zeke was in a dire position, but there were many lions inbetween them. In a move of quick thought requiring much dexterity and strength, Mila ran towards a lion facing her, to jump over it, and turned over so her stomach was to the sky. She put her paw on its head and pushed up from it, causing the lion to fall to the ground and Mila to go higher in the air. She turned back around so she could land normally, but soon saw she was going to land on a lion. Sort of in self defense, she put her head down and her claws out. Her claws sunk into it's back. She took them out of her opponent with great agility, and seeing a hole in the blockage, darted through, to be next to Zeke again. "Get that side, I'll get this one" she said quickly. Immediately, she swiped at an oncoming lion, cutting it's face up well.

[Zeke]

A lion pounced at Zeke and he doged to the side with his claws outstretched. He put his claws against the side of the attacking lion, using its own momentum tear apart his side. The lion roared in pain and fell to the ground with a thud but Zeke had no time to finish him off. Another lion charged at him, taking a swipe at his face. Zeke slid backwards right on time and the lion missed, throwing himself off balance and leaving himself open. Zeke saw the open opprotunity and pounced, grabbing his neck with his claws and swinging onto the lion's back. He tried to hang on until the lion bled out, but another dragged him off by his leg onto the ground. Zeke quickly freed himself by kicking his attacker in the face and rolling back up to his paws. He ended up with his back against Mila's again. "Mila, how are you doing?" Zeke asked as the lions were busy recovering.

"This is too easy. You would think this many lions would actually be a threat." Mila said, trying not to show her fear. "Kill them!" she said, and charged again, taking out a lion on the ground from Mila's attack before.

[Zeke]

This is easy, Zeke thought. He looked on the ground at one of the dead lions, they were still young, hardly even grown into adulthood. He looked back at Pride Rock. Their lionesses were being heavily outnumbered at the base and needed help. "Mila!" Zeke yelled out as he swung at another lion. "Mila! The pride needs help!" Zeke was rammed in the side and thrown to the ground, the wind knocked out of him. Zeke was getting up when he was pounced by two more lions. He swung back and knocked one off and got to his feet, the other still clinging onto his back. Zeke was rapidly losing blood through his neck, but could not feel it. Diving on the ground and rolling, Zeke managed to shake the lion off his back. He quickly got to his paws and started running. "Mila! Come on!"

Mila quickly finished the lion she was attacking off and started following Zeke. There were 2 or 3 still on her trail, but she continued to sprint towards the base of Pride Rock.

When they got to their destination, the attacking pride had their backs to the duo. Mila kept running, but felt a follower claw her tail, stabbing it. Mila roared in pain, and jumped up, turned her body over and kicked her opponent square in the face, turned over again and landed. She landed, but jumped again. She went straight up this time, and her follower ducked under her as to avoid an attack, but Mila was one step ahead of it. She turned around in mid-air and landed while moving to her side, causing Mila's left paws to extend to avoid falling. She charged the lion and tackled it full force with claws extended. Seeing that one weak and out of the way, she looked at Zeke. He looked back and Mila nodded, they both ran for the lion in the opposite pride that looked like a commander.

[Zeke]

Zeke ran full speed at the leader and pounced. The leader turned around at the last second and swatted him to the ground, causing him to slide about ten feet away due to his momentum
