I don't know man. The US right wing is clearly still afraid of the "socialist boogeyman" decades after the Cold War has ended if it thinks universal healthcare is socialist and will bring the end of democracy and destroy the economy. Yes I'm sure all European states have collapsed after providing healthcare. True story. Helping people stand on their own feet when they're down will bring the end times. That's precisely why we have established the EUSSR. Oh wait.

^ The problem with this country is that too many people here don't pay attention to the way the rest of the world works. People are also just really resistant to change. And there's still this weird and overly irrational fear of socialism and communism left over from the days of the Cold War. It's super fun. There are many things I like about the United States. Our politics is not one of them.

Pretty much, just a mix of misinformation and/or lack of insight into other developed countries. Helping the disadvantaged won't "turn the US into Venezuela", Jesus Christ what an overreaction.

I don't understand why my dad is mad at me for not being hungry enough to eat something I don't like and not wanting to use a blanket my dog crapped on before it is washed. :?

If there's one thing the U.S. is good at it, it's putting off doing things based on irrational fears that are a holdover from a different political climate. My hope is that as generations like mine, that were born after the Cold War, come of age, and start to take over policy making as time goes on, these kinds of fears will be less common. A part of me finds that too hopeful, though.

The election is making me fearful, but I've definitely heard of a lot of Americans hating the current status quo. Hopefully it'll improve in the following decades. :thoughtful2:

Argh I wish this mild weird feeling would go away. :eeh:

They keep wanting me in earlier and earlier. Tomorrow training begins and two more shifts that week. Wow. I guess I'll be finding out how tolerable it is soon, and I should be able to handle my own loan payment just in time.

Looks like the weather for my graduation tomorrow is going to be nice. Yes! I would have died had the weather been bad.
