BUT-It's a big risk because there is a lot of uncertainty as to whether Scotland could realistically support itself. Scotland would no longer be able to use the pound which is one of the strongest currencies in the world.
Also, Scotland would have to reapply to the EU, which it would need to survive because of harsh trade tariffs outside of it. Because, let's face it-none of us home nations are an America

Scotland's major industry is oil and I very much doubt that the English government would let them go. Without them the Scottish economy would be severely damaged.
All of the home nations rely on each other for economic and military help. Losing this mutual help would damage both nations and help no one.
This isnt a rant-im just putting forward the opposing argument.
