I don't know if I mentioned it here on MLK, possibly I did and if you did then thanks, but for those who haven't been following the story, my friend's cousin has started a fairly long battle against cancer that began with an operation last Monday and so we asked a bunch of our friends and groups we were involved in, basically anyone to wear orange and upload a picture with orange in it somewhere with the hashtag. And it was a pretty big outcome, a whole bunch of people uploaded seflies wearing orange shirts and left positive messages for him and that's awesome - it definitely helped to put him in good spirits and make him feel a bit more like "Wow I can actually do this!"
Honesty - being able to make a difference to someone in such a simple way like that is one of the best uses of the Internet IMO. And it really, I want to say restored my faith in humanity but it was never that low really, more like it served as a reminder of how awesome people can be when they come together for something.
