Books you have to read end up being ones you dislike :/. Like I had to read Measure for Measure, Educating Rita band Great Expectations in Lit. Really disliked all of them. So yeh I understand that.

We had to read Rebecca by Daphne DuMaurier when I was doing my GCSEs. I HATED it. Though we did Of Mice and Men as well and it is probably one of the best books I have ever read... I do agree though, I prefer to do these things just for pleasure and somewhat passively, rather than having to be actively analysing everything/not on my own terms.

Pygmalion and To Kill a Mockingbird are the only two books I have liked that I had to read for school.

I do that for fun sometimes though. :ha:

I analyze what I read often... and Tsuki, some of my favorite books were ones I was assigned to read, such as Dracula, among others...

I just didn't like the way it was written. Before we even began analyzing it or anything, I disliked it. It was hard to get through, and I remember being annoyed that I couldn't spend my time reading something else.

Ahhh fair play. Yeh I read Dracula and Of Mice and Men in Lit and really enjoyed those. But some books were just so dull after taking analysing them. Bleh iuno.

To be fair, I find most... ah... mundane books to be... lackluster.

Me too xD I think for me though as soon as it becomes "YOU WILL BE ASSESSED ON THIS" and I get bombarded with notes and information and instructions I stop liking it Dx

I can't say much about TKAM yet, since I have only just started, but it's premise as "one of the most important/best/greatest/more superlatives here novels ever written" will likely carry me through to the end

Ah so you had those kinds of lit classes. No wonder. Most of mine have been more like, we read the book, spend a few days discussing it as a class, and write a one page paper or so of our thoughts.

I honestly either liked or loved every book I had to read for school/college. At the moment, I'm reading "Heart of Darkness", by Joseph Conrad, for a Lit class...I'm finding it interesting so far. :P
