Also the best defence against a choke is to put your arm across your own neck so that they cant tighten the choke-you'll be vulnerable elsewhere but at that point you're in a bloody desperate spot anyway!
But yeah if you cant get your arm up in time then you tap or you lose consciousness.

I've been choked before, been in plenty of fist fights before, truthfully. Never had proper training or studied martial arts, but I can fight. Some bleep started something with my brother on the school bus back in the day, soon as we got off I kicked her ass and chased her all the way back to her house.
