Sort of a thing: show
It's not that I want to be the other sex so much as just a feeling like I don't really care about the one I am now. I've never really felt that attached or connected to my sex... even at a young age I felt like it didn't really fit me and I only kinda went along with it because it's technically correct and you don't really question that as a kid. Would I go as far as to say I'm a man? Not really. But that's literally only because I've spent my entire life as female and it would feel weird to just suddenly switch since I have no experience with what that's like, anatomically speaking.

That being said, though, if I were born a male I would probably look, dress, and act the exact same as I do now. In other words, my sex has had little to no bearing on my personality traits, behavior, or emotional experiences. I don't feel that being female is of any real perceptible advantage to me, for the most part. So at the end of the day, being considered so is kind of useless and doesn't mean much of anything to me. The only time it ever impacts my life is in regards to strictly physical things and perhaps my relationship dynamics (though that too is variable, if I'm honest).

Like Jules there, actually, I've come to realize that some of the most unhappy times of my life came when I was trying to be feminine. I became so much better and my confidence and happiness and how I was living all improved once I finally let that go. I have a very androgynous look as it is and I really like that. However, it can be immensely frustrating sometimes because there are those things here and there that I'll never be able to get rid of so I can be neutral. Men naturally have different body structures in terms of fat and muscle and body shape and hips-to-shoulders and all that, so in some ways I feel like it would be easier to live in something like that, I guess. Not to mention they don't have to deal with some things women have to deal with periods and crap... on the other side of the coin, though, if I were a man I would have to deal with facial hair and the awkwardness of having a... well, y'know. So it's kind of a mixed bag. Since there's not really a truly neutral sex/body type (as this would likely fit me best), I kinda just have to deal.

That being said, though, gender is a feeling, not a sex... and feeling-wise, I'm very middle-of-the-road. I'm not really influenced by my physical sex at all and I wish alternate genders were more accepted in society. I used to feel very pressured by family members as well as peers in general to be more feminine. For girly girls and such types, it's not a big deal, but I always felt very excluded because I don't naturally express that way, nor do I want to. I don't find much pleasure in wearing tight, feminine clothing, or putting on makeup. I don't derive my self-worth from how I look. I would much rather be strong and independent than dainty and demure. Etc. It's honestly kind of unfair to have those expectations of people like me because it just doesn't fit what we are, I guess.

Over time, I've adapted and dealt with it, and I don't care so much what strangers think. My friends accept me, and that's basically all that matters. But when I was a young teenager I was definitely in an awkward position. Not being girly and not having a mom around, despite those being things that normally wouldn't have bothered me much, had a negative impact, because it pretty much meant I was alienated from everyone else. I don't think others should have to feel that way or be unnecessarily pressured over things they can't control like that.

This post turned out way longer than I thought but I hope it helps you understand what I think and why I feel this way. It seems to have confused you quite a bit at times (?). If you haven't really felt this way, though, that's great. :P You're pretty lucky.

@Twin, Weirdly enough, for me, when I identify male, I feel right. It's easier to deal with stress, feels, etc. because I don't feel wrong about me. When I identify female... I hate a lot of what I am because physically and mentally I'm very masculine naturally. I've often been told I have a man's walk and my family tell me often that I act and look male, and when I feel male, too, that's all great. I really wish that I never identified female, and hope that I never do again, because that's the ugliest, most self-hating version of me it's possible to be; that version of me is insecure about my appearance, feelings, and attachments to other people... that version of me is clingy, depressing, and constantly seeking validation from other sources because there's none to be had inside. That's the version of me most of y'all know... but it isn't the real me.

This is. And I hope I don't revert back.

@Tora, It's just 2am, but whatever, bye. :P
