I wouldn't say it's under rated, most people who have seen it agree it is brilliant. It's just older and hasn't really stood the test of time like other Disney classics. It mostly comes down to the soundtrack; films like say, Aladdin, those will be popular forever because the soundtrack will never really go away and by the time it does, a new generation has already heard it and watched the movie. Fox and the hound doesn't really have that going for it other than maybe one song I can think of, it's a shame really. I feel that it would do a lot better for itself if it had a better soundtrack to go with it but ultimately I wouldn't change anything in the film for the sake of making it more profitable because it's perfect as it is :3

I completely agree. I mostly said it's underrated because most people tend to forget about it. When asked about "Disney's best movies", many people seem to leave Fox and the Hound out, purely due to having forgotten about it. But, I think it depends on the person, too.

I haven't actually ever seen the second one. Quite frankly I'm not sure I want to.

It's okay, I guess, though it took me more than one watch to think so. I would not recommend watching it, no. It really isn't anything like the first one at all, the story comes out of nowhere, doesn't really make sense and is just kind of... well, odd. I do enjoy it occasionally, but my mind always separates it from the first film. They're so unalike that that just happens on its own. And the sequel is much, much less depressing than the first one, I mean it isn't really sad at all... but it also isn't really funny. So yeah.

Okay, I'm not fond of his Dissidia look. They changed his hairstyle and his outfit and gave his weapons weird coloration. I mean... if I play the game ever I'll still play as him but yeah, couldn't they have stayed more on model?

Also I'm still not a fan of the official pronunciation of his name, but I guess that's what 16 years of pronouncing it wrong leads to. Oh well.

The original one was... I mean it is a good film but it's incredibly depressing. Like really, nothing genuinely happy happens in the entire film aside from the initial friendship they make but then it just turns into this really hard hitting story of having to grow apart from friends and choosing your own path in life even if it means letting go of your past entirely but keeping it alive in your memories only.
It's certainly true but it's presented in such a bittersweet way and the scene where the old widow abandons Tod, the only company she has had in years, I know it's an animated film but I'm convinced anyone who doesn't watch that part of the film without tearing up has all the emotional range of a teaspoon (references) because I'm the most evil man who ever lived and that scenes destroys me every time.

This is so true. I've only seen the original movie a few times, as a child, purely because of the "abandoning scene". It's just so depressing. I truly believe Fox and the Hound is one of Disney's most underrated movies.

OMG that film <3. And that scene gets me every time. T-T. But have you read the book? It's even more depressing!
