I have met 20 year olds who didn't know what those are. Or VCRs, old skool Walkmans... I don't know how it's possible.

Most people stopped using videocassettes by the early 2000s.

Southern hospitality isn't just a made up phrase, if you are friendly people will be friendly back. The cost of living is really low. You can afford a decent house with a non-fancy job. In spite of all the guns we have unless you are in a bad neighborhood you will probably never see them.

We also have the best burgers and steakhouses!

I do despise our politicians. To me rick perry is scum of the earth.

Your south sure sounds different from mine. Three jobs in the household and we can't afford our house, which is falling apart. If it weren't for the good Samaritans we'd go without food some weeks too. If the cost of living is low here too, I'd really hate to see a place where it's high.

I will agree the people tend to be friendly, unless of course they find out something "unsavory" about you. Guns aren't seen too often here either, but sometimes people are carrying them openly in Walmart and that's terrifying when it happens. Especially since people in these parts have been shot for silly things like "looking gay" or "looking Muslim."

I wouldn't know about the burgers and steakhouses, but people do praise Texas for those a lot.

//sorry I'm a bit late

The South honestly is just a strange place in a lot of ways and there's generally just a lot of things that happen there that you really simply don't get in most other places. I spent the first 8 years of my life there and I've had friends from there and that's been kinda enough for me to see how things are run down in that area.

I'll admit that I really miss the landscape, the weather, and etc. I've also heard that it's much cheaper to live there than many other places in the country. Aside from the big cities, things are usually quiet. And there are nice people.

However, there's also a lot of really weird people and weird social customs as well. For one, the public schools are just absolutely terrible-crap-God-f*cking-awful, at least where I lived. I spent Pre-K and 1st-3rd grade there and that was enough for me to realize this. Apparently Southern high schools also have tons of issues and honestly, got no problems seeing that at all. At six years old I was one of the few girls who hadn't been in a beauty contest, or something. Everyone was kinda mean for no reason. If you were smart, everyone hated you. There were no real programs either for gifted/advanced/accelerated/whatever you want to call those kids, and very few for the special ed kids/those with mental disabilities. The classes only prepare you for the test and are mind-bogglingly easy. Nobody really expects anything from anybody and nobody pushes themselves to do well.

I think this sort of thing is one of the main problems of the South.

Don't get me wrong - as I said, there are things I miss. I miss the quiet, rural feel it has, and the land, and the sorts of down-to-earth country folks that can come from the South. But I definitely don't miss the BS and the weird social/political atmosphere. It kinda ruins a lot of what the South has to offer.

Sorry, rant over. lol

This battery is so much better than the original one ever was. It's been two and a half hours since full charge and I've still got five hours of power remaining.
