I was grounded for yelling at my sister a little over two years ago. :P It was only for, like, a week, though, so it wasn't too bad.

I don't remember when I was last grounded. 8-) I just get a scolding when something bad happened.

^Thanks. I'm working on it. :P it's a little bit of a struggle, but if I get into my first-choice college, I'll be many miles away from them in about six months. :P

Serious? I'm an only child from my parents, and it was very rare for me to get in trouble or do something wrong...luckily. :chuckle:

Lucky you. :P I wish I had that, but I don't think I've gone even a whole week without being yelled at about something, even if it's just something minor. The minor things are the worst, though, especially when my dad's in a horrible mood, because he'll go on for half an hour about it.

I was never really grounded either. When I was a kid my parents either spanked us (not super hard or at random, just fitting for whatever trouble we'd gotten into) or they took away our video game privileges for either the rest of the day or longer based on severity of what we'd done.

There is a lot of yelling though. That's probably a big part of why I'm generally very quiet. Pretty young I learned it's often better not to say anything potentially troublesome if I didn't want yelled at--and anything I wasn't sure about, I typically just kept to myself. My siblings like to talk back, and it didn't go well for them. Since we're adults now, our parents rarely yell at us anymore and the other punishments no longer happen of course.

My mom rarely spanked me, honestly. It probably only happened around 2/3 times during my childhood, mostly during 'extreme situations'. I never had anything taken away from me, either. I simply spent a lot of time with my mom, since she stopped working after I was born, and it was always good. I think my lack of "punishments" was because of the personality I developed from my surroundings and such...I was never one to get into trouble. If my mom said no, there'd be a 99% chance I would not do it, or, if she screamed, I'd immediately be like "OH NO. SORRY. ;-;".
Some people believe children need to be punished/grounded in order to learn, but I disagree. It not only depends on the child's surroundings, but the child itself. My cousins, for example, couldn't care less about getting grounded and, at the moment, they're teens and absolute brats. I grew up without ever being grounded and I'm not nor ever were like that. :/

Me and my siblings got into lots of trouble as kids. Sad to say, but if my parents hadn't punished us the way they did, I'd probably be a liar and do all sorts of stupid and wrong crap cos I would have always gotten away with it. My siblings didn't turn out as well though; my brother never listened when spoken to, yelled at, or punished, and my sister was such a little angel (from what my parents saw) that she rarely got punished; she now thinks she's perfect and that everyone has to listen to her, including our parents because she's under the impression that she's in charge.

Last time I was grounded I was 16 - I got really drunk (my first time, actually) and my parents caught me

Didn't stop me doing it though, just made me more careful about concealing it ;)
