Actually we've already seen teen Nuka very briefly I would guess i was a teen during my lullabye. This would also give us a chance to get to know Vitani as well a character I always wanted to see more of. Also Kion wanting to take on the outlanders would undeniably raise tension between him and Simba. It's one thing for Kion to be taking on what looks like teenage hyenas it's another for Kion to think he and the guard can handle the outlanders. Heck if Kion tried I could see Simba disbanding the guard to ensure Kion doesn't get himself and killed and if the guard tried to take on Zira there is a very real possibility she would kill them.
I would also describe Nuka as a teen during My Lullaby. The story lines you mention would be very dramatic and entertaining. Also given that The hyenas clearly stated that Bunga would have become Janja's lunch having The lives of the Lion Guard actually be in peril would not be a direction the show should shy away from.
Nuka could be a good enough enemy for a time I do agree with that even better would be that fact that Nuka and Kion would somewhat mirror each other Kion is fighting the outlanders to prove to his father that the guard can defend the Pride Lands while Nuka is fighting the guard to prove to Zira that he can be of use to her.
Once again you point out a very interesting parallel that I had not noticed. It would make for an interesting story element, that would likely be lost on the target audience, while keeping older family members entertained. I hope the writers are willing to add some hidden depth to the show like that.
I'm probably getting ahead of myself here but you never know I mean Batman TAS and Justice League were aimed at kids so was Teen Titans and we got the trigon arc out of that you never know.
True, but I make a distinction between a preschool audience and a show aimed as kids in general, and I'd say the shows you mentioned were aimed as kids 8 years old to in there teens, as an older teen and in my 20s I had no problem watching those shows (and still don't) I didn't watch Teen Titans all that much, but it was definitely in that same vein.
Kids aren't stupid I saw the original Lion King movie I think when I was in kidegarden so just because it's aimed at preschoolers doesn't mean it has to be dumbed down we were all probably very young when we saw the first film didn't stop them from killing Mufasa.
Also very true (Although I myself was 18 when I first saw The Lion King). I would have had no apprehension regarding story content had Disney not said the show was for Preschoolers. However I am forgetting that Disney views that Preschool demographic as being 2 to 7 year olds. I have a hard time remembering what I was like at age 7, but I think if Disney wants to keep the higher end of that demographic the stories will have to be somewhat deeper that what I would basically think a preschool show would be. Disney also said that they wanted families to enjoy The Lion Guard, so to accomplish that. The stories have to have enough depth that parents and other older family members don't sit there hoping for a power outage.
