The books are rarely canon there was a lion king II book where Kovu and Kiara meet again as cubs while it could be canon it's not mentioned either so I'm guessing these books don't completely tie in with the show.
That is the most likely scenario for the book. They will likely fit in with the series, just don't view them as canon.
*raises hands up in a surrender- like pose* what does Canon and Au mean?
Canon means an officially recognized part of the story. In most cases a sequel or prequel to a movie is canon to the movie that inspired it.
Au (I'm guessing) means Alternate Universe. This term can be applied to properties that have been rebooted. For Example the first 3 Spider-Man movies can be viewed as being in an Alternate Universe from the 2 Amazing Spider-Man movies. Despite all 5 movies being about the same character.
ok now I cant help but worry about the show what if it really is only for 2 to 5 year olds and not up to 7
Just because the books are meant from 2 to 5 year olds, that does not mean that the series will suddenly narrow their target audience. Disney has already stated that The series is intended for 2 to 7 year olds and their families. The adds for the books say that the books are inspired or
based on The Lion Guard. In other words the books will take there cue from the series, not the other way around.
