Okay seriously, what gives? I've updated literally every driver on my computer that wasn't up to date, I've verified the game cache, I've set the games to run in compatibility mode with a version they worked on, and I've set them to run as administrator and still they won't work. One of them started to run when I double clicked the .exe file, but then it said Steam wasn't running (which it is) and closed. I can't find any tips on the Steam site aside from the things I've already tried, and this is a significant number of my games that are being affected. This isn't cool, Steam.
