Not a bad trailer pretty good all things considered though a lot of my concerns are still here. I don't like the Hyenas as main villains what I got from the trailer they just don't seem anywhere near as good as Scar and Zira and the clip didn't help either I don't want goofy villains.
Kiara being caught in a stampede and saved by Kion I also am not a fan of Kiara is not a damsel in distress. Even as a Cub Kiara more often than not saved herself she got out of the situation with the gators or crocodiles I'm not sure which mostly by herself and even saved Kovu. Kiara charged into danger and even jumped in front of Zira trying to save her not the other way around. I'm aware Kovu saved her from the fire but not only was that planned but also Kiara very nearly saved herself before Kovu showed up she was far from completely helpless.
This could be premature of course but I'm not liking what they're doing with Kiara. Kiara would not be calling for help she hates when people help her and prefers to handle herself this was shown both as a Cub and an adult. One of the single most defining parts of Kiara's character is her desire to be self sufficient and handle things on her own once again even as a cub. That one scene kind of betrays Kiara's whole character at least if it's accurate, Kiara is a strong willed character much like her mother being helpless and having to be saved by Kion does not reflect that once again my comment could be premature.
Simba on the other hand looks like he'll be good and seems pretty in character he would want to uphold tradition since that's what his father did and Simba is a slave to his father's legacy his reaction to Kion's choice seemed similar to his reaction to whenever Kiara disobeyed him. However with how overprotective Simba was of Kiara for good reason too I'm rather surprised he's allowing the Lion Guard to exist at all considering the job description puts his son in danger. I wonder if Simba will be training him for it but doesn't want Kion to actually perform his duties until he's older that would match Simba's character either way Simba does seem pretty accurate though the voice is a little different.
Rafiki and Timon seem spot on though Rafiki looks a little different and Pumba didn't look bad either. Mufasa saying a great journey lies ahead feels well cartoony I hope the line was spliced together Mufasa wouldn't say that he's wise and strong and would tell Kion what he needs to hear but always in a way of authority and wisdom, that line really felt like a cartoon line and not at all how Mufasa often delivers a message.
Kion from both this trailer and the clip seems like a good main character continuing to make each main character different from the last Kion is almost like a straight up hero the first we've really had in the franchise his refusal to follow tradition and his courage are well handled he also seems like the most mature cub by far. So far Kion is shaping up to be a good character.
I can't say much about the cast except Bunga I don't like Bunga they call him the brave but I think the stupid would be more accurate. The clip was not a good impression on the character acts all big and bad gets scared by the hyenas and asks Kion for help then when the hyenas get scared acts big and bad again, he doesn't seem like a character I will like we'll see on the other members.
All I'm still excited but not sure it doesn't seem to have the same of level of drama and intensity as the movies did but it also was much better than I thought when I first heard it was being aimed at little kids there's still potential to be sure, we'll see I suppose.
