I just found more detailed descriptions of the characters in a new article:

"•KION — The fiercest, and the leader of the Lion Guard. Kion is the second born cub of Simba and Nala and brother of future ruler of the Pridelands Kiara.
•BUNGA — The bravest, and Kion’s best friend and co-conspirator. Bunga is a Honey Badger and adoptive son of Timon & Pumbaa.
•FULI — The fastest cheetah in the Pridelands. And a tomboy who takes her position in the Lion Guard very seriously.
•BESHTE — The strongest who is friends with everyone in the Pridelands. A happy hippo who is still realizing his full strength.
•ONO — The keenest of sight, and the Lion Guard’s intellectual advisor. Ono is an Egret who always has his ‘eyes in the sky.’"

ok wait Bunga adoptive son? um I thought uncle right? something is not right about that

Timon and Pumbaa's relationship to Bunga is likely that of adoptive parents (not unlike their relationship with Simba), but since Bunga calls them his uncles, that is likely what Timon and Pumbaa taught Bunga to call them.

I think it was Khary Payton, but is it possible that he did not know Kiara was going to be a cub in the series? Although I don't know how that could not have come up when they went over the script.

I think that simba's new voice actually suits him imo.

Disney probably just made him a little older age wise, so it's possible that his voice got deeper.
