Nala is hardly in this film

Simba's Pride was more focused on the relationship between father and daughter. Nala was sort of a secondary character in this movie. :)
Plus, what bigger role could she possibly have in the script? She isn't really important in the plot, so she has fewer lines. :P

It's true. And come to think of it, Nala never even had such a huge role in TLK :S I was really kinda upset that she's always been overshadowed by two clowns like Timon and Pumbaa XD

I don't get this either. Nala deserves more camera time. She is one of the main characters in the TLK series. Right? :soaked: :understanding: :snuggle:

Really guys, can any of you think of anything else Nala could have done in SP. If you can I'd be glad to hear what. :ehh2:

she had a big role in the first movie. Nala found Simba and thus brought help to the pride. if she hadn't tried to get him to come back, he wouldn't have thought about it....he just needed a bit of encouragement and a knock on the head to listen to her. plus, she was the one who gathered the lionesses for the fight. and she was right in the lead in knocking the hyenas off Simba.

they didn't necessarily have to give her a bigger role in SP, but they should've stuck with her character. had her being more stern with Simba about his decision to exhile Kovu, trying to do more for Simba than just yell "Simba! The river!", had her try to teach Kiara to hunt some, had her try to comfort Kiara after Kovu's exhile, or something. I mean, they hardly had her showing much concern in scenes where she should have. when they exhile Kovu and Kiara's all distraught, she just stands there and doesn't even try to comfort her daughter like the pride lioness sorta did.

I know they had to downplay Nala some so it didn't make Kiara seem so lame, but they still could've tried to stay with her personality in doing so.

I stil feel as though they kept Nala's character as close to her character was in TLK1 for the given situations in TLK2SP. Remember, it was Nala herself who told Simba to give Kovu a chance when Simba was asking for advice from The Great Kings Of The Past, and after that, all Nala knows is that her mate came back, badly injured and assumed that Kovu truly did ambush Simba. How do you think that would make her feel during the whole Kovu on trial scene? It's clear that she's supportive of Simba's decision, as she herself even blocks Kiara from trying to go over to Kovu, so we just have to assume that she either feels guilty for getting her mate hurt at the paws of Kovu (even though we, the viewer, know this isn't the case), or she really does agree with Simba's judgement. This is the reason why I feel she didn't comfort Kiara afterwards. Nala feels like the decision was justified. As for Nala not supporting her daughter's hunt, well, I just assume that Nala was the one who trained her up until the point of her first hunt and it's clear that Nala has confidence in her daughter since she tells her that she'll do just fine. This is the same supportive lioness that I knew from TLK1, so I don't really see that big of a difference in her personality, aside from being toned down to give Kiara the spotlight. Again, just my views on things though. ^^

I think any lioness could have done her job in either of the *actual* lion king movies.

I mean, in the first movie, she is Simba's playmate.. woo! and then she finds Simba, I'm pretty sure that Sarabi, Sarafina, or any of the other lionesses could have left the Pride lands and gone off to find Simba.... >>

And in the second movie, Any of the other lionesses could have walked up to simba and said all that stuff about worrying when simba was up and stalking kiara and kovu... And i'm pretty sure that ANYONE (including failure zazu) could have told simba that the river was about to kill him....

She's actually pretty darned useless

I guess after Nala had her role on the first movie, the animator thought that it was time to give a mayor role to a different lioness, in this case Kiara

lol, again, I'll have to slightly disagree at least, with the points you made about Nala in TLK1 anyways. :) I don't think any other lioness (aside from maybe Sarabi, since that's Simba's mother) would have had the same impact upon Simba when it came to convincing him to return back to The Pride Lands. Since Nala was his cub-hood friend and they had such a strong bond to one another, Simba would be more inclined to take her advice over say, any other lioness within the pride, so in that respect, I think Nala wasn't useless at all, nor do I really think she is a useless character in either film but again, this is just my opinion and nothing against yours Morri. ^^
