Just seen on Google Street View what my old house looks like now. I barely recognise it with the new door and porch and our old garage that became my bedroom now has a proper brick wall where the doors were.

What do I do? I don't want to seem like a jerk by not taking the shift for a friend, but at the same time I really hate my job and if I took the shift I would miss my 3 day weekend. I really don't need the extra hours. And I really don't want to work Sunday. If I could have it my way it would be a designated day of rest because I do have a faith and working that shift would just ruin my day... But at the same time I don't want to see rude. Why do I have to be so nice that this is a difficult choice? I don't want to be selfish, but it really would ruin my whole weekend if I had to work Sunday.

^Nah, he's already asked people. And Sundays off are so rare that no one ever wants to take a shift. The only guy who is constantly looking for overtime and extra hours isn't even able to do it.
Tbh, I don't see how celebrating his mom's birthday on the actual day is so important. I worked mine, my dad's, and my mom's birthdays and just celebrated later. Idk... I'll probably say no.
