Bunga's Uncles?

Ok so I showed my best friend the premier cause we are TLK buddies besides you all and she pointed out to me when Bunga said "you know what MY uncles always say"....um I totally didn't think that those uncleS where Timon and Pumbaa, only because I am not a Timon and Pumbaa fan, they are my least favorit, but I wonder why would Timon and Pumbaa be the Uncles of Bunga, this totally didn't makes sense to me at first but now its even more confusing, How does TImon and Pumbaa become the uncles of Bunga A HONEY BADGER? Especially when in SP Pumbaa declared himself Kiaras uncle "uncle Pumbaa's coming

Referring to someone as an uncle can be used as a sign of affection even if not related by blood. A lot of people refer to Walt Disney as 'uncle walt'

Yeah it did seem strange. I assumed these uncles would be honey badgers too, but it would make better sense to tease Timon and Pumbaa for the trailer. I agree that Bunga may just refer to them affectionately as uncles. It would be pretty funny to see Timon and Pumbaa babysit a bunch of young animals once in a while and have The Lion Guard keep in check with them.

I did not know this, uncle Walt, hmmm sounds comforting and reassuring after all the generations of Magic that Disney has made for us, to enjoy and have fun with, and they continue his work in a way that he would be proud

It could be simply Bunga interacts with them often enough that they might as well be family. Considering that Bunga is friends with Kion, who no doubt gets traumatized often enough by being babysat by them: so there is a perfect time for them to interact with Kion's friends.

Plus, most likely is that it't nothing more than that Kion calls them uncle due to their adoptive relationship with Simba, and Bunga calls them the same thing that Kion does.

My Sister made that same point when we were dissuading this earlier today, She thinks (and I am paraphrasing her thoughts here) that Timon and Pumbaa must have been close friends with Bunga's Father. Some type of tragedy befell Bunga's family leaving Timon and Pumbaa to raise him.

I think that if My Sisters Theory is correct it is possible that Bunga could live at Pride Rock, or at least go there as often as Timon and Pumbaa do.

Another thing is that even thought Pumbaa refers to Himself as Uncle Pumbaa in Lion King 2, Kiara never uses the term toward either of them.

In Africa, if you are a little kid and you meet an older man you will call him "Uncle" even if he doesn't relate to you, same with if you meet an older woman, you will call her aunt. I don't know if you do it or not, but we do it so much in Africa. for example, when I go to my local tiny grocery story I will call the owner uncle. (I miss calling people uncle and aunt, I don't do it anymore because it'll be weird in Canada)

So, they just added in an African habit, which I think is cool!

I think they put it in to add the African feel to it. When Bunga and Kion were playing 'soccer?' in the Savannah it reminded my how kids go play soccer in the street. Adding to that Bunga calling Timon/pumbaa uncle, it just made me feel like I'm in Africa.

They are going the right path with this! I'm glad that they kept the African atmosphere in.
