Okay, so. Look that up right quick, then if everyone's done going back and forth, get some sleep.

I read this thread fairly often, and I agree on the school schedules. Public high schools and junior highs really need to start later. Having kids there at 7:30 or 8 AM is completely pointless, especially since you need more sleep around that age anyway. I missed about 130 days of school in my last three years and that was probably one of the main contributing factors. I mean honestly, when you're 14 and you're depressed and your hormones are everywhere and you're dealing with the death of your friend and a bunch of other crap there's pretty much nothing that can get you out of bed that early, especially when you know nothing is happening that day. :/ I am sure it's even harder for the teachers. Sorry for that. I'm glad I'm graduated because frankly I don't want to deal with the compulsory public school system ever again. I admire people that teach there because I don't think I could ever do that.

I agree ^ they've even done studies and found that school districts that have schedules starting later in the day (SURPRISE) get better scores. Nearly all students report that they feel better. WHO WOULD'VE THOUGHT

Yeah, it's honestly stupid. The only argument I've heard in favor of school being early is "BUT TEH POOR POOR SPORTS KIDS!! WHATEVER SHALL THEY DO? OH NOES!"

As someone who was on a lacrosse team that practiced from 4:30 (two hours after school got out) until 6:30, and didn't get home often until like 7 or 7:15, THAT'S STILL PLENTY OF TIME. Honestly, stop crying about it. People shouldn't have to give up two hours of sleep because YOU can't seem to manage your time and all of your stupid, optional activities.
