Alitash ran after her mate
Alitash: Shujaa! Wait! .....I'm sorry for lying. .....To be honest...I wasn't even really expecting you to say yes. .....It's just.....the way you said it....it....it made me fell like you.....you aren't attracted to me. .....And it hurt. .....I was hoping that if you did say no...you could say something like, I don't know if I'm ready yet. .....I know that's not the way you wanted to sound.......but it still hit me hard. I just wanted us to....to show each other that as long as we do it together.....we can do whatever we want! .....But it was a terrible way to do it. .........Not even mates for an hour and I've already upset you. ..........This is what I was always afraid about happening!

Hamadou: I love you more than life itself! "I'm sorry," Shujaa apologized sincerely. "I'm sorry that I was blunt. But I felt like I was being pressured. I know you weren't, but it just felt like that." She sighed and slumped her shoulders, looking disappointed.

Chaltuu huffed and tried to suppress an exasperated scoff. "Hamadou... That's very sweet. I appreciate that, but..." She paused for a moment. "If you really want me to open up, how about I be honest? Please stop giving me these long, long speeches of how much you love me. I know you do, and I love you as well, but I've heard them multiple times. I'm not your existence, Hamadou. You were born before I was, and I'm not the reason you're alive."

Alitash: I'm sorry. ...That's not how I wanted it to sound. .....But.....can you tell me why you don't want too? ...Please?

Hamadou: I know. It's supposed to be romantic. .....But.....Okay. I'll stop. If that's what you really want. .....I just.....hoped that.....I could make you happy........and take all your pain from your past away. ...And don't say there is no pain. He turned away and closed his eyes. He felt so much disappointment in himself. All he's ever wanted to do is to make her truly happy and admitting he can't breaks his heart.

"Why can't 'no' be enough of an answer?" Shujaa asked, trying to keep her patience in check.

Licking her forepaw, Chaltuu looked at Hamadou and said with a roll of her eyes, "Hamadou, don't be so dramatic. Just because you don't make me leap for joy every time someone says 'hi' to me doesn't mean you're doing anything wrong. And as much as you and I care about each other, you're not going to take the 'pain' from the past away. Because there's not much 'pain' to take away. Yes, there is some, but it's no use moping about it all the time because it's not a big deal." She flung the femur bone away from her and it skidded over the rocks, finally rolling to a stop with a noisy clatter.

Alitash: .....Why can't you tell me? I'm your mate! .....Do you not trust me? ....Are you embarrassed? Please tell me.

Hamadou: .........You know what I really miss? ......Your smile. .......You always had a beautiful smile.....until your father broke you. ......I've missed it ever since.

Shujaa scoffed and stormed away from Alitash, fuming. Did her mate just not respect her, she wondered? Perhaps she was being biased, but almost couldn't help but feel like Alitash didn't respect her or her choices.

"I didn't smile when I was a child," Chaltuu sneered with a scornful look. "Don't try to tell me that I did, because I'm pretty sure I know myself better than you do." She rose to her paws and whipped around to face her mate with an exasperated huff.

Alitash: ......Shujaa?? .........What have I done?! .........I finally marry my one true love.....and I'm already driving her away.....
Alitash went back into the small cave and laid down facing the back wall, trying her best not to cry

Hamadou: ..........I'm sorry.

Chaltuu's tone softened- only slightly, but she at least didn't sound too harsh anymore. "And Hamadou... it's kind of interesting how you talk about how much you want me to be happy, yet you seem to constantly bring up my father."

Hamadou: I do? ....I didn't mean too. Look.....here's what I want. I want to wake up everyday and see your beautiful face. And when you wake up and see me smiling at you, you smile back, thinking that you are married to your soulmate. We spend all day together and we don't fight or argue. ......We just.....love being together. That's how I've always pictured how we could be happy together. .........But it's just a dumb fantasy.....I know.

"We can't spend every second of every day together," Chaltuu acknowledged, "but that's not a dumb fantasy. It's a little naive, but it's not dumb."
