Alitash: .....You....you said that pretty quick. .....You're sure?

Hamadou: .....I want to talk. ......A while back.....you mentioned that you wanted to be with me because you've known me for so long. But you never said anything else. ...So.....is there any other reason you wanted to be my mate?

[Iri]

"Yes," Shujaa answered. "I mean what I say." She sighed, tracing her claws in the dirt.

"Because to be honest, I care about you," Chaltuu replied. "Yes, you have your faults, but so do I, and I'm willing to acknowledge that. I think you have a good heart and good intentions, and you're kind. The whole 'knowing you for so long' is also a reason, but not the main one. Why do you ask?"

Shujaa stopped Alitash, tugging at her mate's tail with her teeth- not enough to hurt, but enough to stop her. "Alitash, wait."

"It's funny how you say you know I don't like opening up yet wonder why I don't," Chaltuu said, digging her claws into the dried bone of the mountain goat or whatever it had been.

[I have a feeling Alitash is upset because Shujaa's not doing what she wants?]

(Sorta. It's more like she's taking it personally. Like Shujaa loves her but isn't attracted to her like Ali is.)

Alitash: What?

Hamadou: Yes, I know. It just cancels itself out. But.....why? .....I'm your mate. You can tell me anything in the whole wide world! ...I just.....I want to be closer to you. I love you.....I need you.

[Well, to be honest, saying that she wants to be with Shujaa forever and then getting upset with her for not doing what she wants is not a good first impression to make.]

"Alitash, it's not fair of you to get upset with me just because I don't want to do what you want," Shujaa said, looking slightly hurt. "I get you'd be disappointed, but really?"

"You need me? You lived until adulthood without me and you survived," Chaltuu replied with a light scoff. "And don't try to give me that 'but I wasn't complete without you there' because the way I see it, you lived just fine. I love you too, Hamadou, but there's nothing to open up about."

Shujaa rolled her eyes. "Alitash, I can tell when you take things personally. Believe me, it's obvious." She scoffed and walked out of the cave, huffing in disbelief.
