Kovu immediately spotted prints and told the lioness, "Look at those prints! How about we follow them?" Kovu followed them to a waterhole and stopped there. "The scent is very strong here. It also smells like an old friend Navi." He looked at the lioness, "Long story." He then yelled out, "Navi it is me Kovu the heir of Simba. Let us mourn his death together for his kindness to us both."

Navi, covered in blood, mud, thistles and looking hungry and weak, emerged from a nearby bush. "Kovu?!" she said, slightly hoarsely.

[VitanisMate]

Kovu looked at Navi sadly at her condition and said, "Yes it is me. Your cheetahs need you. Your mate Jack needs you." He looked at her and said, "Why did you not come back before? The great king Simba is dead please mourn him with me."

Navi's face turned even more sad as she walked to Kovu and nuzzled him lightly. "Simba is with all the great Kings of the past, now." she said. "I would have returned... but I cannot." she began to act as if she had been convinced of a lie. "I am a disgrace to Simba's... your Pride. I am nothing more than a useless traitor. I am responsible for Simba's death." she cried a little. "Get away from me. I'm not worthy of your presence."

Kovu looked even more confused. "Navi what in the world are you talking about? Simba died peacefully and without pain. You did NOTHING to cause it. What do you mean by traitor? What in the world is going on here?!" Kovu began to look around growing a little suspicious at the actions of Navi. "Look Navi Jack misses you and the cheetahs need a leader. Won't you come back? Help me defeat the outsiders and get my mate Kiara and my friend Grunge for me."

"Jack? Kiara? Grunge? I've betrayed them all. Even scum like them are too good for me." Navi began to walk away, obviously under the influence of some lies...

[VitanisMate]

"Navi you come back. I don't know what lies have been forced upon you but if you really believe that you need help. Stay here and I will show you that help."

The influence Navi was under was strong, but despite that, she knew well that she could always trust Kovu. "Ok..." she said, reluctantly walking back to Kovu, her paws bleeding from walking on the dry ground too much.

"Now Navi how about we help our friends okay? My mate and friend are trapped in the cave by outsider lions. Help me get to them please. Simba made me promise to him that I would bring you back to your cheetahs and that is what I am going to do okay?"
