I'm wondering if TPAM spelled "main" as "mane" on purpose or not.

I do think it was on purpose, though. It sounds like it is the name given to the group of characters.

TPATPATPAM and TPATPAM, it is on purpose, since they are ponies, it is a pun that is used for them as they have manes.
