"And why do you believe that?" Chaltuu challenged. "What makes you think that I would be a good mother?"

Hamadou: Because.....you're my mate.....we have a special connection.......and in the deepest pit of my heart....I know you would be! ......You just doubt yourself.....but I know you could do it! ...I believe in you!

"Sorry, but my answer is still no," Chaltuu said with a brusque shrug.

[Adofo]

Hamadou: I know. .....I just wanted you to know what I felt.

"Do you think you'd be a good parent?" Chaltuu asked.

[Adofo]

Hamadou: .....I'd like to think so. I've dreamed about it a lot. I like to think of how I would be as a dad. So....yeah...I guess. .....Chaltuu.....the whole reason I wanted to do this whole thing with you....was to finally put a nice smile on your face......and a warm feeling in your heart. But.........you're not feeling that......are you?
He said in a slightly let down tone.

Hamadou: .....I want you to feel special. .....I want you to feel like.....you're not hated by everyone....because you're not. ........I want you to feel how you wanted to feel when you were a cub. You wanted to be treated nice. You wanted others to like you. And you wanted to love others and for them to love you! ...........But then you gave up.......you let your father get to you.......you let him convince you that you were bad. That you were an abomination. ......So you turned your back on the whole world...........if I had one regret in life.......it's that I couldn't help you when you needed it the most......when your father tried to hurt you..... That's another thing you didn't know about me. That he made me treat you like garbage. He said if I didn't.....that he would kill you for making you think someone cared for you. .......Being mean to you......was the hardest thing I ever had to do....
