Wow. Isn't that the worst attachment to a title I've ever seen? Do they think people can't tell from the logotype that this is still part of the same series so they have to put "Divergent Series" to make it clear? At least with The Hunger Games, it makes sense to have the "Hunger Games" as part of their film titles, such as "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire", because the Games themselves are a huge factor to what their world has suffered from for 75 years and Katniss's involvement within her two games escalated into becoming a political threat towards the Capitol as well as the start of the revolution.
With Divergent, it just sounds so stupid. They didn't call it "The Lord of the Rings trilogy: The Two Towers" or "The Harry Potter series: The Chamber of Secrets".
Hollywood, we're not the stupid ones. You are.
They did call it "Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers" and by doing so identifying the series. And every HP movie title (just like the books) was titled as "Harry Potter and the [insert title here]"
Identifying what series its in is really quite common I find.

I need to get working, though.... Hopefully I should have plenty of time to read after I'm done.
