Anyway, just wanted to say that while this might be true for younger kids, that's not necessarily true for everyone. I read a ton as a kid, was a very fast reader, and I still like reading informational articles and non-fiction sources, etc. for education purposes. However, as I'm older now, things have changed and I have other hobbies I like to do. I usually feel like I could be doing something more productive whenever I stop to read fiction, especially as I could be writing something of my own.

I used to read a lot on FFn but there's so much crap on there to wade through to find something good, and tbh I'm kinda critical of what I read. If it's not engaging right away or it's not written well, chances are I'll never end up actually reading it past like the first chapter. That goes for both published and unpublished stuff.
