^^^^ What do you mean by "more African"? You're aware Africa has hundreds of languages and many linguistic groupings, right? There isn't one "African" language.

Also, if you mean Swahili, then I should point out that there are plenty of names in TLK canon that aren't Swahili, like Zazu, Sarafina, Mufasa, Scar, and Ed. Since Kion doesn't seem to be borrowed from any language, they can pronounce it how they want. We just don't know how that is yet.

Kion is short for kiongozi which is swahili for leader.

^Sounds good enough to me. Image

Pronouncing Kion's name like "key-on" sounds more relevant. So I've been saying it this way since I first saw the name.

Kion is also old greek for "of noble birth".

I think this is really clever on disneys part, using a name which in multiple languages can describe what kion is.

Thank you for letting me know. Is this for sure what Disney intended though? People seem to have a hard time figuring out what the name means. xD

NOW THAT sounds better, that's what im looking for, see it makes sense that they made these names from Swahili and because of that and that I love Africa, I want to learn the language someday, and all in honer of there Swahili names
