"Yeah. I know the feeling," I said. "He became very sick. The sickness was sudden. No one expected it. He had been working hard one day, when suddenly, he passed out. Mom was nearby, and she took him to some people who could possibly help her. They said he must have eaten something he shouldn't have - something that had some sort of disease that merfolks could catch as well. And that's exactly what he had. He was unconscious for a whole twenty-four hours, and when he regained consciousness, he was extremely weak. He wouldn't get up. He wouldn't eat. He could barely drink anything. Everyone tried helping him recover, but nothing worked. Two days later, he fell asleep and never woke back up." I felt the tears build up in my eyes at the memory, and I let them fall. "I remember waking up the next morning and swimming quickly over to his room. I tried waking him up, but obviously nothing worked. I asked my mom about it, and she told me that he wouldn't be coming back. That was the worst news I had ever heard in my life."
