I think it's BS. The word was just invented because whiny loser kids these days are in such a hurry to grow up. Being a tween is nothing like being a teen at all.

It's in the dictionary, so it must be a word. Does it refer to the age group of 10-12? No.

I did look it up in the dictionary and it actually IS a real word, it's short for "tweenager". So if it's official in the dictionary, then it IS an official REAL WORD.
