Well the first day of the semester went well.

I've been at this for an hour and have only gotten one picture done because the thing's being so slow. In fact, all I did with this picture was open it in LPS, open the other document, copy that one onto the first one, and then saved it. It's not even completely done saving yet. This is going to be a long night.

So school resumes on Tuesday and I got an email today from one of my new professors. He wants us to have read the first assignment, from the textbook, by class on Tuesday. We don't get our money from loans/scholarships until the first or second day of classes. My class is at 9:40 am. If I get the loan money on Tuesday, it won't be available until 9:00 am. That leaves me 40 minutes or less to buy the book and read the material for the first class. What?

But wait, there's more!

Missing 3 days will drop all final grades by 10 points excepting emergencies. What? Missing 4 days will result in automatic failure of the course! Seriously! What the crap! If I'm sick, that's not an emergency, but I won't want to be in class and my classmates won't want me there either. I get two absences before you punish me? When I'm going deeper into debt to pay to be in your class??? That's BULLCRAP. You shouldn't be able to penalize me for not showing up when I'm paying for it.

PAPER ASSIGNMENT
You will write one 3000 word (or 10 full pages, excluding Works Cited) paper on a topic of your choosing, but you must obtain my approval prior to writing the papers. This paper will be primarily research paper on an issue, idea, theme, problem that you want to discuss. For this paper you are required to cite at least 10 secondary, critical sources in addition to your primary source(s). ASK if you don’t know what is meant by “secondary” and “primary.”

Follow MLA guidelines regarding documentation and works cited. All pages should have a 1-inch margin; in the top right corner of every page should appear your last name followed by a space followed by the page number. Use 11- or 12-point Times New Roman font. Do not justify the right margin—it should be jagged. The entire paper, from your name in the upper left corner to the last entry on the works cited page, should be double spaced: there should be no single spacing whatsoever. The first page should have your name, the course (ENGL 3010.001), my name, and the date, all beginning in the upper left hand corner one inch down from the top edge and one-inch in from the left edge, and each on its own line. Following the date, on the next line (double-spaced of course) should be your title, which should include the title of the work(s) you’re writing about. The title should be centered, but do not use bold, italics, or underlining, for your title, though the title(s) of the work(s) being written about should be properly formatted according to MLA guidelines. Your paper must have a Works Cited page. Just beneath the final paragraph of the last page, include the word count for the essay (excluding the identification information at the very beginning and the Works Cited page). Failure to include a title for your paper, failure to turn in your paper on the assigned date/time, AND/OR failure to follow any of these directions (MLA citation, formatting, paper length, etc.) will result in an automatic F on the paper. (Don’t test me on this!). If you do not know how to do MLA citation, ASK!

Wait. Okay so I can handle a ten page paper. But you want 10 secondary sources, and formatting errors or citation errors will result in automatic failure? And one of those things is forgetting to put the word count at the end of the paper? Even though no one else ever asks for that? REALLY??? Get over yourself! Ugh!

This is ridiculous. Totally ridiculous. I already know he's a snob and I hate him and this semester will be extremely annoying on account of his attitude. He's stressing me already and I just know he's going to be pompous and rude and stuck up. I hope I can get out of this class and into a different one...

Edit: I was able to switch the class. Hopefully next semester I won't be forced into dealing with this guy or worse.
