Yegath looked up from the waterhole, her muzzle wet and jumped back when she spotted the fire. "C'mon, we have to warn the pride!" she said worriedly. "Come on! What if the pride doesn't know yet?" Her voice was louder than it had ever been- granted, she was trying to get the two lioness' attention so they could warn their pride. She sprinted off towards her pride's territory, running as fast as her legs could carry her, and Mnyama snapped out of her fear-induced trance and trailed after her hastily.

It took Marini a few moments, definitely longer than Mnyama, but she too snapped out of her little trance when the realization of the danger and what was at stake hit her. She quickly stood back up and rushed after her two friends, heading in the direction of the den. Sure enough, because of how hot it was, all of the lionesses were inside, meaning that they haven't spotted the growing threat. "There's a fire!" she practically screamed, even though Mnyama and Yegath were already doing the exact same thing. "We have to go! Now!" It would be a matter of very little time before the fire reached them...

Yegath and Mnyama were also shrieking at the pride, "Run! Fire! We have to evacuate!" Mnyama risked a glance over her shoulder and gasped as she saw the threat- a few minutes ago it had not been that close! How had it reached them? That wasn't important- she looked back at the pride, where many of the lionesses were hurrying out of their shelter. Mnyama looked around frantically and spotted Marini, to her great relief. "Marini!" she called, rushing over to her friend. "Where's Muroki?"

Marini was also scanning the den in search of her brother, praying that he'd come back and wasn't now stranded somewhere out there on his own or even worse. But, to her horror, she couldn't see him anywhere. "He's not here!" she exclaimed, panicking even more than she already has. Asking the other lionesses where they'd last seen him wasn't a possibility, seeing how they've all already fled the den. "I have to find him!" As the frightened female ran outside, she realized that the fire was completely blocking anyone from heading deeper into their territory. The only direction she could go was away from it and from her brother, if he was still alive.

Yegath ran after Marini. "It's no use!" she called, her voice cracking. "I'm sure Muroki got out! Just come on! We have to go!" She herself was unsure of whether Muroki had managed to escape the swiftly-spreading fire. She hated herself for admitting it, but she knew neither of them were any use to finding Muroki if they died from smoke inhalation. But she was panicking for Marini's safety too.

Marini just stood there and stared helplessly at the raging fire, coughing uncontrollably as the fact that her only choice was to save her own skin dawned on her. Her brother might be alive and there was nothing she could do to help him. In many ways, that was so much more horrible than her own life being at risk. How could Yegath be so sure that Muroki was okay she did not know. Perhaps she was just trying to get her to come with her and Mnayama. Probably. There was no point in them getting killed for nothing. Her brother wouldn't want that. Without saying a word, the distressed lioness followed her two friends.

Mnyama had waited for the two, but as soon as they neared she started sprinting and she managed to call through her coughing, "Come on! We just... we just have to get away from the fire!" She wasn't sure how that was possible, considering the blazing flames were moving faster than the three themselves were, but she clung onto a little bit of hope.

Marini kept running without looking back. Not only did she not want to, but doing so would slow her down not to mention be risky. She could trip over something and fall and the flames were spreading too fast as it was. The three of them eventually reached what marked the end of their pride's territory - a wide, dried up river - a good sign of the dryness that lay ahead of them. There were no plants whatsoever inside, so the width guaranteed the fire wouldn't spread any further. The rest of the pride was already there, but Muroki was still nowhere to be seen. Spotting a lion among a group of lionesses wasn't hard...

Mnyama skidded to a halt, panting and coughing slightly. "Are you all right?" she asked Marini and Yegath. "Any burns or anything?" She knew she was probably overreacting, but fire scared her, especially massive fires like that.

Marini was also panting, finding it very difficult to catch her breath. "I'm fine..." Physically, yes, she was perfectly alright. But, really, she wasn't. She was worried sick for her brother and there was no sign of him anywhere. "Muroki's not here..." Yes, she was stating the obvious, but she couldn't help herself. It seemed like the entirety of the rest of the pride had made it, but she didn't care at the moment.
