That's the freaking problem, I don't want to do fics forever, the only reason I started doing fics is because I wanted people to notice me as a writer so that my ORIGINAL works might have a chance of becoming something, but instead people still don't care AT ALL about the stuff I CREATED, they JUST want FICS from me.

Quoted for truth - most serious fic writers don't want to just write about someone else's characters forever. It can be pretty frustrating trying to make the transition to original work since it's not as popular online as fanfiction is

I've started a few original works but never really sent them anywhere or completed very much of them Did you ever try sending them to someone who might publish them? I want to put serious work into some original stories during this gap year

I want people who matter to read my works and help me explore the world I've created. I've spent years on it and I know it still needs work, but I can't get anyone to give any thoughts on it. I want it to be something whole and complete and I need someone to bounce ideas off of for that... And if the people who mean most to me won't give me any support, then why should I even bother? Most of the ideas I get are for fics these days anyway... and that's what people will read...

Besides, it's not like I haven't given up all my other dreams already.

Thanks, but I don't think it matters. I was going to trash everything I'd already written, to re-do it. It's just that I've recently realized exactly how little point there is.

I've heard that if it's posted online somewhere, it can't be published. I'm not going to risk that.

Oh wow, I didn't know that I won't risk it either. I guess 50 Shades of Grey got through a loophole somehow

^ Yeah someone on dA was writing an original work that used some of the ideas from fics she'd written; she had to remove all of the fics from the internet in order to be able to get the original work published.
