A Private RP for Labatis

Chaltuu peered over the grass. Uangaze wasn't freaking out, so the cub had to just be asleep. Uangaze, despite never paying attention to her cubs, would mourn and grieve if something happened to any of them- except Kapuki and Chaltuu, so that pretty much only left Shujaa. Despite the cub receiving attention, Chaltuu felt a tiny scrap of sympathy in her chest for Shujaa. After all, the cub was starving and weak. Probably hungry, too- if she hadn't been able to nurse. If they could only find someone...
Kapuki looked like she was about ready to burst into a huge fit of tears, but she managed- though she had no idea how she did it- to keep herself composed and not cry in front of anyone. She had to protect Shujaa and care for the cub, not waste her own time crying. Sobbing didn't fix anything, and it certainly wouldn't help the current circumstances. She flicked her tail and prepared to rise fully to her paws, to distract some of the territory guards while letting Chaltuu and Angus find a way to get in.

[Well, Kapuki is nice to Shujaa. But Chaltuu won't be as soft and lenient. xD That's not to say she's going to beat on Shujaa or anything, but she might get a little impatient and stuff..]

Angus nodded, and continued to watch the pride members a little longer. Some glanced close to where they were, but judging by the fact that they continued walking, they hadn't noticed them. By now, the moon was almost entirely risen, and the sky was turning into a shade of blue and black. Whether or not they were found, he was confident that they would at least make it close to the den. "When do we go in?" he whispered to the two lionesses, still keeping an eye on each lion.

"I'll go and distract them," Kapuki whispered. She was a quick lioness and if she got caught, she'd fight. What good was cowering?
Chaltuu nodded. "Angus, then you and I can go in." She sneaked a glimpse over the grass once more, her ears flattening and only the top of her head appearing. Kivuli seemed to be asleep, and the other lions looked as if they were tired too. If they got caught, they could flee, too- and with Shujaa. The tiny, light-furred cub desperately needed a better family than the one she had now- especially with a mother who hardly realized that she was there, and a father who ignored her suffering. Besides, if Shujaa stayed in that dank territory Kivuli was bound to start hurting her one way or another.

[So after this, what'll we do with Angus?]

[After they get Shujaa and find a lioness? *shrugs* Not sure. Toss him into the lost RP pile..?]

Angus crept forward, then lifted himself off the ground a bit. He would still be hard to spot, but now Angus can roam around more comfortably, and help get the newborn faster. Luckily there were some tall rocks scattered all over the territory, so he did have a place to hide. He stopped behind the nearest boulder to the cub, and focused on everything by her. There were a couple of sleeping lions, so he's have to be cautious not to wake them, and Kivuli is surely something to keep an eye on. Hopefully he was a heavy sleeper, so it wouldn't matter if he was standing near him grabbing the cub.

[Well, he's got to have some action too.]

Following Angus, Chaltuu scampered forward, hearing Kapuki noiselessly distract the patrolling group. The cub was asleep, and now that she was closer, she could see better. She could faintly see the cub's belly rise and fall, and Shujaa was curled up cozily. But she kicked and squirmed, as if she felt uncomfortable- Chaltuu assumed that meant that she had gone to sleep with an empty belly. She needed desperately to get that cub and run away with little or no trouble. But something felt as if that wouldn't be the case.

Taking a deep breath, Angus walked towards the cave slowly, looking side to side occasionally. No one seemed to notice them that much, but he didn't move too fast in case some were partly awake. He was rather close to Uangaze and her newborn cub, but he wasn't going to be the one to grab her. After all, she was her sister, and Chaltuu would probably want to carry her anyway.

Chaltuu continued to dash after Angus, but her pawsteps were carefully quiet, and she deliberately made her steps seem as if another lion was just striding past. She crouched above her mother, and cursed herself inwardly when she felt her chin brush her mother's shoulder fur by mistake. Uangaze shifted and grunted, but didn't move otherwise. Chaltuu let out a silent breath of relief, before stooping over and gently taking the cub's scruff in her jaws. Shujaa didn't seem to notice or care that she was being taken away from her mother's belly- as a matter of fact, she sort of hung there, limp. Fortunately though, Chaltuu could feel her baby sister breathing.

Angus' muscles tensed as Uangaze shifted around, and when the cub was limp. If Uangaze woke up, she'd surely cause them pain- whether is was her who did it, or she gets Kivuli to do it. They had done a lot to try and help this weak cub, and it would both anger him and make him feel guilt if she had died. Once Chaltuu had the cub's scruff firmly gripped, he calmed himself down slightly, and cautiously caught up to her. "Should we go now?" He asked with a flick of his tail. Using body language would be most appropriate so that they had no chance of waking others.

Chaltuu nodded- she couldn't really talk with a mouthful of a cub's scruff fur. She crouched down, hoping with all her might to just be able to sneak out of the territory unnoticed. Then a thought it her- their scent. The pride would obviously go into a panic if they found that the one remaining daughter of Kivuli and Uangaze was missing. She had seen it herself- though she found it absolutely stupid and ridiculous that they didn't care if the cub died, but if Shujaa got taken, they'd go into turmoil. They'd all need to cover their scents with something.

[Very Very very very very late response]

Angus soon noticed himself that their scents was a dead giveaway. He gestured to Chaltuu that they should bring the cub to Kapuki, and then try to cover their scents. Angus looked around for water or mud, knowing that covers scents. He was lucky enough to spot a small water hole nearby, but the issue was how they were going to 'carry' it over so they can cover their scents. After forgetting where he was, Angus instantly looked to the ground where the lions were, to make sure he hadn't wakened anyone.
