Warrior Cats Roleplay with Zoketi [Private]

"Defense strategies," Tawnystar informed her apprentice. "In case someone attacks you, you need to know how to defend first. Then we'll move on to battle tactics afterwards." Her tail swished back and forth. Her paws kneaded at the ground. She herself had been taught defensive work first before going to battle strategies- she noticed it helped more than learning fighting techniques first. She headed towards the middle of the training ground, beckoning with her tail for Littlepaw to follow. Defense was usually simple. Dodge, roll to the side, jump back, but she knew from her own experiences that those tactics didn't always work... A stronger warrior with more battle experience might use more complex strategies that would take more than ducking or rolling to the side for defense...

[Zoketi]

The apprentice flicked her tail happily. "Yes." she mewed, understanding completely. Though she couldn't wait til actual battle moves, too. But this was a start. She'd had only one day of training so far, and all they'd worked on was some basic defense. It had been a lot of talking, too. A lecture. Which was good, but honestly not very exciting. So Littlepaw was more than ready today to begin. The white she-cat trotted after her mentor, her head high. She positioned herself to face Tawnystar, and stood still, watching the leader excitedly.

[Iri]

"Claws sheathed," Tawnystar meowed. "Always during training sessions." She sprang at Littlepaw, waiting for the apprentice to do something, whether it was ducking, moving aside, rolling back, anything. It didn't matter- this was their first session anyway. She'd have to go easy, obviously- there could be no dawdling or poking around. Her claws were carefully retracted, so if her apprentice got caught in her paws somehow she wouldn't scratch Littlepaw's fur.

Of course, came Littlepaw's thoughts. That was a pretty obvious rule. She nodded quickly, then blinked as Tawnystar jumped with no real warning. The apprentice supposed she was just expected to improvise right now. Littlepaw scooted to the right, trying to avoid the main attack, and lifted up her forepaws to ward off Tawnystar as a more instinctive reaction. She bared her teeth in a little mock growl.

Tawnystar landed on her paws, stumbling a little clumsily. "Good," she meowed. Her tail flicked back and forth slowly. Her eyes gleamed. "Now you take a lunge at me." Her ears craned around and her gaze was rested intently on Littlepaw's motives. A warrior always had to be prepared for an attack from an enemy, whether it be cat or fox or badger. Badgers were extremely dangerous and had lethal teeth and vicious claws. The black-and-white little beasts could easily rip apart a cat as small as Littlepaw.

She waved her tail in satisfaction, then nodded as her leader spoke again. Littlepaw crouched and kneaded the soil with her paws, remembering to keep the claws safely tucked away. She darted forwards, aiming for her mentor's left side with her forepaws. She wasn't overly sure how to go about it, but just simply went straight for her, scooting around to try and keep out of range of Tawnystar's own front paws.

Tawnystar yowled a mock battle cry and leaped back. She admitted to herself that her apprentice's leap forwards was rather impressive and that she hadn't been completely expecting it herself. Just out of range of her apprentice's paws, she nodded and purred, her tail swaying. "Well done," she praised Littlepaw. "Very well done."

[Zoketi]

Littlepaw came to a halt, skidding a little and sending gentle puffs of dirt into the air. She beamed at her mentor, ears pricked and gaze delighted. "Thanks!" she chirped pleasantly, grinning broadly. She straightened, letting her fur fall neatly into place. Glancing towards Softcloud and Beetlepaw, she watched them train for a moment, in awe of the advanced moves the two were doing.

Beetlepaw looked over to the side and flashed a grin to Littlepaw, as if to say: You'll be doing this stuff when you're older!
Tawnystar straightened herself. "Okay, dodging and ducking won't do much if you're against a very experienced opponent," she meowed. "So we'll be learning some other sorts of defense techniques, some may me simple or some may be complex. Lunge at me again." She readied herself for her apprentice's "attack", her tail swishing and her eyes intent on Littlepaw.

She blinked back, eyes bright. However, she quickly turned her attention back to her mentor, not wanting to seem distracted or indifferent. She pricked her ears and nodded exuberantly, her tail flicking up. "Okay." she narrowed her eyes in concentration, then jumped forwards towards Tawnystar, this time darting towards her mentor's legs to try and tangle them together and knock her over. Of course, she'd fall too, but she'd get to that when it occurred.
