Okay, good to know. BTW I'm so used to talking to Finns I want to pronounce the "J" as a "Y." :P

The thing with my parents wasn't necessarily bad, dad was just making these faces like "oh no she wants to leave America!" and mom was like "if we had the money, I'd go with ya." So it was interesting, and not bad per se, just I didn't mean to be standing around talking for 3 hours. :ha:

^ Yup, sounds like my dad. xD I ask him one question and then next thing I know we're talking about politics or something for like 2 hours. Like, dad... can I, like, go to bed now? I just wanted to ask if you had a good day today, I don't need to talk about how our public education system is terrible or how Obama passed some new law until 10 o'clock at night. lol

^ Happens all the time, lol. It's worse here now, I think, because now that I've been in another country I like better I have so many more complaints and rants about that kind of thing, so once someone gets me started, it takes longer to get me to shut up. :ha: <----I use this smiley entirely too often, omg.

^ I get it. This is my smiley for talking about annoying things. :tired: Which seems to be all the time lately. lol

Is Europe actually that much better than America, though? I mean I don't like it here but I was worried it wouldn't be better anywhere else, having only been outside the country three times, to Canada and Mexico. :3 Is it that big of a difference?

^ It's undescribably different, honestly. Here I'm used to like, feeling hostility in the air and I just didn't feel it there. Everyone was nice and polite and minding their own business and the few things I mentioned to my partner's friend and roommate about here shocked and appalled them. While I was there, my gf got a letter saying she's going to be getting 500 euros a month to attend school, and she has a job already. She's being paid to go to uni! And everything in general just felt peaceful and nice, and there were no judging "better than you" down the nose stares like people give out here. Of course I'll fully admit that part of why it was so nice was undoubtedly the company I was keeping, but that wasn't all of it for sure. And obviously I can't speak for all of Europe. But Helsinki was absolutely wonderful.

I don't really know anything about Iceland, but after having been in Finland, I honestly can't fathom how I was ever able to live here, though. Before it was just life. It's like, I knew it was bad, but I didn't really realize how bad until I got back, if that makes sense. But at the same time, I now know things really can be good and much improved, so I'm like, simultaneously double stressed and yet actually motivated for once and it's weird. :ha:
