You are right. I didn't know Kopa appeared anywhere other than Lion King: Six New Adventures.

Probably won´t. However, i´m really forward to see this. Everyone knows that won´t have such a great story, nor a so much interesting plot, but hey, it´s the best you can get from today´s Disney....

I'm wondering just how many non-AU fanfics are going to become completely irrelevant now because of this ... if we can call this canon, that is. Sure it's a Disney licensed product but since there is debate as to whether the sequels are canon or not then maybe this won't be, either.

^ That "debate" is people who don't like the sequels crying about them... if it's officially released by Disney then it is canon. This is being officially released by Disney, just like both of the sequels, so whether it is good or bad, it will be canon. I can't believe how often this needs to be said.

That said, all those fics will not become irrelevant, they will simply become AU.

Yep, that's the story. It and "Fight for the Throne" aren't nearly as well known as TLK6NA, which is a shame, because there's a lot of interesting stuff going on in them.* Kopa actually plays an active role in both stories, instead of spending most of the time listening to other characters tell him stories.

*Like Kopa riding into the Pride Lands on a freaking white elephant.

Exactly as long as everyone goes in with tempered expectations. No one should be too disappointed with the end result. Perhaps The Lion Guard will raise the quality bar for preschool programing...I doubt the bar could be that high to begin with. I think that is a realistic expectation.

I'm now going to envision the baby lion (I guess Kopa) at the end of TLK1 is really Kion and Kiara is just like MIA.
Either way I'll still be watching it with the younger siblings.
