Oh and I just read your bio, you're just like the other mindless sheep that hate him.
Gamer, anime fan, adult male (which is creepy as heck), most likely single and just jealous of Justin.
So, I just stumbled upon this thread, and I have to say... wow. I'm sorry, but there's really no room for that on here.

People all like their own things, yes? So, what's the big deal? You (and me, and him) like The Lion King - is that childish? It is a movie targeted for children. It's animated. Isn't anime similar, just more... Japanese?
I'm not an anime fan, by the way, but attacking someone based on whether or not they watch Western or Eastern animation, or whether or not they like Justin Beiber or metal, or whatever else, sounds incredibly immature and short-sighted. I don't want to be mean about it, but I do want you to think about what you've said for a moment and ask yourself if it doesn't fit the definition of judgmental.
Moving onward:
I always hate it when good topics go sour for senseless reasons. It would be a shame if I had to lock this thread.
I would hate for that, too. Although I have to admit that, aside from the aforementioned comments from this person, things have been relatively civil. Normally just bringing up the name of Justin Beiber (Bieber? Looks like I've been spelling it wrong for years now

) seems to provoke some sort of firestorm. Honestly, I wish discussions of art/music/movies/etc. weren't so arbitrarily hostile. I mean, whether or not something is 'good' is largely subjective measurement. Yes, there are some commonly-accepted guidelines that determine quality, including the amount of work/effort/thought/talent put into something, but sometimes it really does just come down to personal preference.
Onto the actual discussion:
First, Rebecca Black, since she seems to be the least... controvertible... of the two. To be honest, I haven't heard from her since... what, 2011? To my knowledge, I've only ever heard of like two of her songs, Prom Night and Friday, and they sounded almost the exact same. I didn't really like either, but I will admit that Friday was catchy and, as others have mentioned on this thread, singing "Friday" on Friday to annoy everyone else was popular for probably over a year after its release in high schools across America. Honestly. xD
That said, though, I don't really have any particular issue with her. In the grand scheme of pop culture, she was a little 'blip' that made one or two infamously terrible songs and then disappeared off the face of the Earth forever. As far as I know, she was just some little rich girl (?) whose father made her one music video, or something like that, and it wasn't like she wrote the song or the lyrics either. So, for the most part, she's not really to blame for the whole Friday thing.

No use in hating her.
Now, Justin Bieber (!). Oh, boy. This guy's been popular since about 2009 (at least, that's when I first heard of him), and he was... what, 15 at the time? He was kind of like a kid then, and from what I hear, he still acts like it now. (Can't believe he peed in a mop bucket... wtf? o____o) Another example of stardom gone wrong, I guess. That said, though, I don't have any particular problem with his music (at least beyond my general dislike of the modern, manufactured-pop-music genre, which mostly involves glitzy singers who can pop out a tune with hardly any involvement in its production. Needless to say, the fact that most of them can't even play an instrument and probably have little to no knowledge of music kind of bothers me

). I haven't really listened to much of Bieber, though, and I don't really keep up with what him and the other stars are doing, so that may be why I'm (relatively) indifferent. It's just not really my cup of tea. I think both the haters who just hate him because it's the popular thing to do (ie, the actual flamers, not people who dislike him and his music for an actual reason) and the fangirls take this whole war to a way, WAY too extreme level. I mean, honestly, girls, he's not THAT attractive, is he?
Oh, and PS:
Ah well, at least we have Within Temptation, Hollywood Undead, Fall Out Boy, and many more to rely on.
This comment deserves an award. lol
PPS I've left the 100th comment!
