Chapter1: The Search
“Ohhhhhhh… Mother, Vitani?” moaned Nuka. He was injured, weak, and hungry. It was late at night. His paws were bleeding, his back was scarred all over, and he had splinters in his hind paws. He pushed the logs off of him and started carefully going down the huge pile. Once Nuka reached the bottom he started looking for the pride. Zira, Vitani, Kovu, anyone. “MOTHER? VITANI? KOVU?” he yelled. There was no answer. He limped over to the side and attempted to climb up and fell back several times. After a while, he finally reached the top and fell to the ground out of exhaustion. “Where am I? Where are Mother and Vitani?” he whispered to himself. After a matter of minutes, he fell asleep.
After he woke up early the next morning, he went wandering around trying to find the pride. He trudged and he tried to ignore the stabbing pain in his paws and back. After a while of exhausting search, he found a zebra. “I can’t believe my luck!” he thought. He got up closer and pounced on the unsuspecting zebra. After Nuka finished eating, he walked to a nearby pond and began drinking all he could to hydrate himself. It was late afternoon and there was no sign of Zira, Vitani, OR Kovu! “I’ll keep looking. I won’t stop until I find them.” Nuka said to himself. He soon came upon the jungle between the Pridelands and Outlands. He examined the environment and thought, “Maybe they’re in here!” He wanders into the jungle only to find nothing but vegetation and mountains. He found a few animals, none of which were lions.
It was late evening and Nuka knew he had to find shelter soon before nightfall. He soon comes upon a very small pride of lionesses and he asks if they could share their den with him. They ask him why and he says he’ll explain later. The lionesses shrug and agree to let him in their pride. He greatly thanks them and follows them to the den. When they reached the den one of the lionesses said, “Allow us to introduce ourselves. My name is Nzuri.” The lioness next to her said, “I’m Kuchoka.” Then the lioness on the far end said, “I’m Nadhifu.” The lioness in the middle said, “I’m Rahisi.” and the lioness next to her said “And my name is Tamaa.” Then Tamaa said, “What’s your name?” Then Nuka replies, “My name is Nuka and I’m exhausted” Then Nadhifu says, “Come on inside, Nuka. Our den is your den.” Nuka doesn’t say a word, he just walks over to the middle of the den and collapses in a heap. In just a few seconds he was asleep. The lionesses smiled at one another and went into their den and could see the Nuka was freezing cold, so they decided to warm him up with a blanket of grass. After Nuka was covered in the warm grass, the other lionesses fell asleep. 4 of the 5 lionesses were heaped up in the corner. Whereas Tamaa slept by Nuka’s side…
