The Lion Guard (2015 / 2016)
I'm not sure I fully understand where you're coming from with this statement -- do children's educational programs have to be 100% grounded in reality in order to be considered educational?
Yes. I'm pretty sure some kids would be naive enough to believe lions are friendly heroic animals. And I used to watch Sesame Street myself as a junior, yet learned nothing at all from it. Most things I learned (and presumably other kids as well) are from a place called ''school''.
I'm excited for it, I don't want to judge it before I've seen it so I'm staying positive. It will be one of those things you either like or don't like. As I loved Kopa so much in the past, I'm totally excited! Can't get used to the name 'Kion' though, so used to 'Kopa' :P
Exactly; it shouldn't be judged yet! ;)

I'm exactly the same when it comes to deciding later if it'll be to my expectations or not~ The TLK fans are disheartening me! Oy!

Yeah well that makes sense doesn't it, considering he isn't in this.
I'm sure adding new characters in instead will be great though; like New Coke.

I'm all for trying things and I will probably watch the first episode. But it's okay to judge things. Sometimes judging things can be a good thing in fact.
I still say that this show sounds like a bunch of boogie woogie business. I don't see why it should be given the benefit of the doubt because it has recognizable characters in it. I suppose we should all agree that CoL:AET is the best attraction at Disney World because it has lion king characters in it? No. It's as boring as it sounds. And this show also sounds boring.
Should probably mention, that's just my opinion based on what we have so far.

In fact I will make this bet right now: IF this show turns out to be awesome, I will sing The Circle Of Life live on Skype or Twitch or whatever you crazy kids are using these days, record it, stick it on YouTube for future generations to see AND send it Heart FM radio station whose office is around the corner from me to have it played on the air and everyone I have ever cared about to go "Flip? No we don't know that guy any more."

alright; but I'm still excited and knowing myself, I'll probably enjoy it anyway! ;) Besides, if the show stinks and is garbage to us old timer fans, then do you think that will stop us from re-writing Kion's story and having still a multitude of TLK fans draw Kion as Simba's son or even as Kiara and Kovu's?? The fans will do anything. xP

I'm actually excited for this lol. I'm not a preschooler, but...I wanna see how they're going to use the LK universe to teach kids about conservation.

I'm quite excitied about this, good so see that TLK got some regcogniction so long after the movies were made. I don't think it will be great but I don't have high demands, as long as it's The Lion King.

Well I meant because he looks like he's based on Kopa, ^^ stay positive! It's not something I want to get into a great debate about since it's not even aired yet. I'll discuss it more once I've seen it. :)

hey homies

I was cautiously optimistic when I saw this news; made me think about coming back here and giving my two cents, for what it's worth (which is very little).

I initially saw the news on The Hollywood Reporter, who mentioned that Kion and his crew were tasked more with a conversation/preservation role within the Pride Lands than that of, say, defending the place from attacks from hyenas, rival prides or scorned Lion King fans.

That definitely fits more snugly within what Disney Junior's generally going to offer, and I'll be surprised if the show doesn't mostly focus on Kion going around the Pride Lands and solving little issues like, "Hey, hippo, don't drink all that water, we gotta save some for erryone else!" or some of that ish.

I'll give it a look when it's on; I mean, it's TLK, something for which we've been starved for content for about a decade now. I can't see myself watching it regularly, but it'll definitely be a cursory sort of glance to see what the finished product is.

Main thing I can say for sure is I'll probably write some sort of fanfic about it, probably doing a jump in time to make the characters older and -dark and brooding- or something because I have what doctors call a problem.
