Harambee was father to Kukaa. However, he was very selfish and arrogant, having been raised to believe that he was better than everyone else. Due to his rude, conceited nature, Kukaa, his daughter, fled from him after she couldn't bear his arrogance any longer, after he had struck her.
Harambee didn't care that his daughter had run away. He was too selfish, and found a new mate, also of whom couldn't stand his ways. His second mate and her daughters, Chomo and Naima, fled from him as well.
