Adena's breath felt tight and painful in her throat. "So you're basically saying I just let everyone touch my cubs every moment of every day?!"

[Adofo]

Adofo: Of course not! Let me tell you something. When you and your siblings were born, I wrapped you up in my hoodie. I took it off, put you all in my hood, wrapped it into a little nest and I held the nest tight all night while I slept. I didn't want ANYONE to touch you guys. Just like you are now. I had to learn to trust others in a whole new way.

"I can't trust anyone with my cubs!" Adena choked out. "What if something happens to my cubs? Then what will I do?"

[Adofo]

Adofo: Hey.....I know it's hard.......but you have to learn. Now you made a promise to me....that's I'd help you raise them from the moment they were born. And you know what? I've been holding them in my arms for at least four minutes! See!
Adofo sets them back down by their mother's belly.

Adena curled protectively around them. "I know I promised... but how can you help me? You can't nurse them!"

[Adofo]

Adofo: No...but I can protect them. Like I protected you as a cub. And your brothers and your sisters. I won't let my baby girl do this all by herself!
Adofo leaned in and gave her a big kiss on the lips.
Adofo: I love you baby. And I love them. You have to trust me. Do you trust daddy?

"This... this is my responsibility. Not yours," Adena said.

[Adofo]

Adofo: You are my responsibility. So THEY are also my responsibility too. Baby.....I raised you. I've feed you. I've played with you. I've loved you...and I still do...why can't you trust me?

"It's not that I don't trust you. I can't make you put the burden of caring for my cubs on your shoulders," Adena replied quietly.

Adofo: Hey.....they're my cubs now too. You PROMISED I'd help raise them. And that's what we're going to do. As father and daughter. And It's no burden at all. I've actually been looking forward to this. Please don't take this away from me.
