Kopa snorted and turned around. "Fine."
Back in the mountains, Sky lay in a small ditch, shivering. There was cold white stuff blowing around her. The wind was cold enough without the white flakes blowing in her face. She held her breath as a gust of wind blew in her face.
"You all right, kid?" a long-furred lioness asked. She had kind blue eyes and brown fur tipped with black. "You look cold."
"I am c-c-cold..." Sky's teeth chattered.
"What's your name?" the lioness asked.
"Sky. Wh-what's y-yours?" Sky said.
"Neema. Why's a short-furred cub like yourself doing here?" the stranger asked.
"I... I... r-ran away from h-home," Sky replied.
"Why?" Neema said.
"I'm just bad luck," Sky said sadly. "My h-half-sister... she t-tried to defend m-me from a spitting snake, a-and now she might b-be blinded. And i-it's my fault."
Neema gave a sympathetic head tilt, and laid down beside Sky. She curled around the shivering cub. "Here, it'll be warmer if you curl up."
"H-how do you not get c-cold?" Sky asked.
"My fur's long, see? And it's really thick and tipped with black. The black helps absorb heat from the sun. The thickness also helps keep me warm. I nearly never get cold in the mountains. Also, when I'm hunting or fighting, my thick fur usually helps me from getting hurt," Neema answered.
"That's c-cool," Sky said.
"Yes, it is," Neema responded with a smile. "Now, it's getting late. Good night, Sky."
