Suddenly, an aggressive cobra slithered up, hissing. Adena flicked her tail at it in a neutral way, signaling to the snake that if the snake struck first, she would attack, but she would not attack first.
They didn't know that the snake was a spitting cobra.
The cobra apparently was in a bad mood, because it struck, spitting its venom into Adena's eyes. Adena dropped to the ground with a yowl. The snake slithered away down into a hole that must have been its den.
